Discard (potential shiny) Lapras or Squirtle quests?

I currently have 3 quests, one Lapras, two Squirtles.

I don't want to claim the Lapras quest, because a shiny might be released soon.

But the problem are the two Squirtles, I heard that one of them might be from a shiny PokéStop, but I am not sure which one lol.

So here is the question, I need to do daily stamps, but I can't find any Squirtles. Should I complete the Lapras quest, or discard those Squirtles?

What makes you think there's a good possibility for a shiny Lapras? If it was imminent, it would've been released when Lapras was made available in the quests. Even if it is released, you'd still need to get very lucky to score it.

Personally I wouldn't keep Squirtle quests after the CD either, even if I knew one of them gave a shiny. Most people who played got at least one so its trade value isn't great.

Just claim the fucking Lapras and dump the Squirtle quests. If you don't already have enough shinies/sunglasses/combination of both, you did CD all wrong.

Not everyone has the sheer amount of luck to get so many shinies.

Didn't need luck if you had a lot of pokestops and/or a chat that would call out the shiny stops.

Wtf is a shiny pokestop?

The pokestops that gave shiny sunglass squirtle were the same for everyone during CD.

I can confirm that multiple people from my group ran toward the found pokestop like crazy and got shiny sunglasses squirtle from that quest, no exceptions.

First. I'm 99% positive that the Lapras has already been set. All you need to do is uncover the task in front of it. Which means, if there wasn't a shiny Lapras available when you got the task, you're not going to get a shiny Lapras from that task even if you waited until there was one.

Secondly, while you're waiting to hatch a possible shiny squirtle out of your two tasks, you're passing on many other tasks. Especially considering how infrequently wild squirtle tend to show up.

I agree with a post above, you probably didn't use Community Day at it's most efficient.

Suck it up and delete the two squirtle quests. Face the music. You didn't complete them and they're just baggage at this point. And get Lapras over with. Holding on to it for months in the hopes it may yield a shiny lapras? That's just a new-player move. If shiny Lapras comes out it's going to be a lot easier to get than the method you're currently implementing.

Or, keep on with your current plan. It's hardly realistic or efficient, but you can play it any way you want that gives you some fun.

The pokemon is set when you first open the encounter, not when you get the quest. This has been confirmed multiple times by people getting shinies from encounter quests that were gotten before the community day.

Conversely, claiming what was guaranteed to be a shiny Squirtle during CD after CD is over can cause it to revert. I wasn't able to complete a shiny sunglasses Squirtle quest before the event ended, and subsequently completely and claiming the quest using 'Evolve a Water Type' quest caused it to be non-shiny with sunglasses.

:-/ Should have claimed that Lapras just before Community Day started. It was hurting your chances to get more CD research at the same time.

There are a lot of starter pokemon spawns this month. Do you have any areas near you that have a lot of water spawns? You could try to find some more Squirtles that way. But it is not worth dragging out too long. If you can't finish them today, just drop them.

I think your best option, if you insist on hanging onto the Lapras, is to check your local dischord for any Squirtle nests and complete those quests that way.

Completing and claiming what was purportedly a shiny Squirtle quest after CD, for me, caused it to be non-shiny. So those CD quests are probably useless. Get rid of them and complete the Lapras quest, because a shiny is not necessarily imminent and you're better off going through quests more quickly than saving them.
