So glad I decided to waste my daily pass on an Omanyte for a badge.
Guess what I saw when I woke up the next morning?
Time to power up that 14/15/11 Pinsir with BB/XS earned from a research task.

There have been a countless number of "I caught my first Mewtwo today 71% 11a PC/HB, should I max it out?" topics.
However maybe I saw what super metro places have been seeing. Popular/convenient EX gym at 9am this morning a Regice hatched. We had spent 55 min chatting to get people to drive there to get it beat. 7 people showed...we check in the lobby and there were already 18 spoofers in there counting down their lobby. Exited that mob and then we beat it.
Maybe they triggered it or maybe they all just wanted a perfect Regice
I went to an ex eligible gym for a regice around 10am today. Saw one other person there and was worried no one was coming.
The egg hatched and immediately 11 people in the lobby.
I'm not sure if they were spoofing, it's admittedly near a condo building and a gym complex, so two indoor areas that may have been able to reach with some GPS drift that's common in the area. However I'd say it's a pretty safe bet there were spoofers in there. Shame really - Niantic should be updating their ex raid logic to only give passes if you walk at least 5km in that region during that week or something.
Spoofers don't want Regice, they aren't gonna organize/risk unless there is an EX hook. Getting a Mewtwo is pretty common in my part of my city, maybe the secret got out. I scrolled thru and looked to see if any were real but lotta level 25 to 30s of my color. Maybe multi-spoofers wanting great Mewtwos to trade to themselves...not gonna work, the trading function is way off
6 EX gyms - usually 1-2 egg locked and 1-2 known to be out of rotation. We know what to raid and when. Even without paying attention I have 6. It's to the point that people are skipping them because who cares. That's not a bragging thing - It's hoping something else gets an EX pass. Other than Machamp raids (hi MetagrossMaxis!) I rarely use them; my kids use their 3 more frequently as they often lack revives.
Any tips on ensuring I catch Mewtwo? If I do, I can stop asking "What is a Mewtwo?" Of course, I will use golden razzberries.
As for my squad, my only optimal attackers are two Bi/Cr Tyranitars, a Sn/FP Houndoom and a FC/XS Scizor, hence the suggestion that I power up a Pinsir.
Is Gengar with Hx/Sh (no SC) good enough for the first slot? With two SD/SE Tyranitars and four SD/Cr Tyranitars, I could use a FTM to get a third Bi/Cr Tyranitar.
Mewtwo is not that hard to take down, for higher level accounts it is comfortable three-manned.
So if your area does not have problems gather a big enough Exraid-crowd I would certainly not TM a SD Tyranitaur, and I would advice you NOT to do it in advance, but as a last resort if you closely failed the first attempt.
In a raid with several other people, and with a 3-bar move (Crunch), the the fast move is of much less importance than normally. You will mostly just spam Crunch with some occasional fast moves in between, due to the energy gained by damage taken.
Take your time catching it, and look at some videos to get tips on when/how to throw. Normally Mewtwo is an easy catch but occasionally you encounter rather aggravated ones that jump and attack like crazy so do your best to be prepared for that!
Good luck!
Don't power up anything specifically for the raid, if you don't have a raid group you will probably be in a lobby with 10+ ppl and he will go down in less than a minute. If the autoselect doesn't choose your ttars then he had FB, use dragons and gengar.
Mewtwo is easy to catch, take your time and learn the timing.
Good luck
