Double candy/double XP event already happen, it will take a lot longer to happen again, and actually it would be really boring to see the same events all the time :S

Easy to say that now. Nobody knew what this event would have though. Didn't hurt to be prepared. I'm sure plenty had pidgeys and eggs ready.

You can never have too many double Stardust events. I was hoping for this personally.

I'm totally cool with not having double XP or candy (though candy would be my second choice).

Double something is always good, don't get me wrong hahahah but i personally like different events such as more starter, or new starter, or more ice pokemon (for winter) and more fire pokemon (for summer) for example. It shows more care about the game than "ok, a celebrating date, double something"

Yeah I agree. It's nice that they throw more thought into events instead of just stamping "double" on it.

Well my 10k that's been sitting at 9.7 for the event was my first ever double ice lapras. Would have been nice to have double candy but I'm pretty stoked anyway:) just had to share that.

Double Candy/XP is not boring. An increased chance of hatching some of the weakest Pokemon in the game. Now that's boring.

Increased chance of hatching babies. Last time I checked, starters aren't baby pokemon. Starters will spawn more frequently, but they won't hatch more frequently.

It says you will find increased encounters. That doesn't exclude hatches. In fact, they used the same wording, "encounter", for the Halloween event and I did indeed hatch plenty of Ghastly/Drowzee/Meowth

I had seven saved, and just hatched three because I was tired of waiting. Nothing great - Hitmonchan, Aerodactyl, and Magby. Good luck on your nine!

The incubators are cool. Don't care much for the babies, but hey. Oh, excited for more bulbasurs for sure. Overall, not as big as the first two events, but happy for something besides Pikachu!

Any clues as to what the gift boxes found in the data mine will be for?
At first I thought the incubators but then why would they be labeled...any thoughts?

That's what I was wondering since they used the same icons that were found in the data mines in the pictures but didn't mention them at all...

I think there may be more to this event than Niantic is letting on...

Im not interested in shit baby pokemons, so i just spin pokestops for the incubators and save them for later usage after the event? when baby pokemon hatch chance gets back to normal.

Am i correct?

Well, actually thats a pretty good idea thanks! hahahah unless they vanish with the one usage incubators after the event or they come with some sort of clocking system to vanish sometime with then.

Free single use incubators isn't a bad bonus - effectively 50 coins a day,

I'm finding a fair few squirtle of late, but Charmander are incredibly rare in my neck of the woods so they're welcome.

Considering its winter and below 0 C, 60 min Lures is not that well thought through. Niantic will get sued for freezing injuries.

I thought this made more sense for the cold, as people could camp out indoors next to a lure, instead of trudging around in freeze.

I like the extra incubators and chances of hatching new mons, not a lot the increased initials spawns, was really hard for me to get my Charizard and I feel a bit disappointed that now everyone will have a lot of them so easy....

I was hoping for 2x candy or dust and increased ice spawns, some sort of mini Lapras event also getting Seel, Shellder and Jynx.

For me it's a nice event but it would have been perfect with 2x something and increased spawns.

I always thought halloween and thanks giving were the small parties and christmas would be the big party niantic coming up saying lets have fun and own this holiday. Lets double up on everything.But this is like a 4 year old party for grown ups. Babies are cute but weak. Starters were special now theyll be common. Huge let down.

Kinda like farming ghastly to get 1 Gengar before they were buffed, then Halloween event pops, and everyone has 10 Gengar?

Agreed 100%, it's indeed a huge let down! I was hoping for double stardust to the least extent. Bulbusaur itself is hard enough to catch. One will deplete all his/her great balls before catching an Ivysaur. Can't imagine what it takes to catch a Venusaur.

This event is rather anticlimactic after the Halloween and Thanksgiving events. I never serious thought they would release all of Gen 2 in the dead of winter. That would be more of a first anniversary thing to do. However, I was really believing the new mon was going to be Mew so the babies were a let down. Incubator event is a dumb idea in December because the cold temps are too draining on phone batteries and it's not practical to walk off eggs.

I don't know how the user base is distributed. For Australian and many Asian players phones overheating in December will be more of a problem. In most of the UK and large parts of Europe temperatures don't drop enough to worry about batteries (we're in for the mildest Christmas in years). I guess it could be an issue in Northern Canada and the far North of Europe, although at least for the far North of Europe the really cold weather tends to be towards then end of January.

I live on the coast of "far North of Europe". We started having temperatures below freezing in early October. Warm clothes, smartphones gloves and you are clear to go. Batteries is not much of an issue, extra battery pack in you pocket and it stays warm. Cold is not the worst, here on the coast we often get days with hard wind, rain and sleet and temperatures just above freezing, still it is possible to play if equipped accordingly :-)

However, many in my area are playing from the warmth inside cars. We are few that keep walking.
