Uses for a non blast burn Blaziken/

a while back when the fighting event just started, I got a combusken with 98IV's, and of course, I evolved it, and now after seeing the projections of blast burn mega blaziken, im regretting that choice, so im wondering is there any use for a non blast burn one when the blast burn one comes out

(we still dont know if mega evolution may be implemented, thught its highly likely)

Sorry mate, you totally screwed up, you should have put all your resources into Machamp.

Seriously, the question is really how much use will you get from your 98% Blaziken (I assume it's either double Fight or double Fire) between now and the time Mega Blaziken comes out. Worst case you can always TM it to double fight moves. It's also possible that you have to take the final form (Blaziken) and do something to it to get the Mega form, so it won't be a waste at all.

I wouldn't worry about it. Use it in good health against Regice and Registeel. (Ironically, against Regice, the C/OH Blaziken is strongest rated Blaziken on Pokebattler.)

...I know it was a joke, but I have seriously had enough with machamp jokes, every time I mention anything even if it had nothing to do with machamp.

A focusblast/counter mega blaziken could be the best fighting type, so I may have a use in that, so It isnt a complete waste, and use against dialga with that set

Regice, and registeel both have earthquake so...thats a problem,
I hope that if they add mega evolution, mega blaziken and Charizard wont be able to take blastburn, it will add at least some balance back to the game.

But this does have to do with Machamp, given that Blaziken (and Breloom and Hariyama) fill a similar niche.

That said...ignore your Blaziken's what-ifs for now (I too have a 98%) and focus on what's useful. Again, I don't understand your constant looking forward when you have things of value NOW.

Mosty its that I already have a perect machamp, and also that where im from there isnt a real need for optimal and perfect counters, given theres 15+ people at tier 5 raids, and (apparently) the gym scene is completely different than what all the guids say to have as the best defenders.

I mostly dont see the value in what I have now because whenever I post anything on here and say this is good and this isnt in my experience, everyone says that im wrong (they say I am wrong about soemthign they have no idea about when I was the one there, yes it has happened) I dont see the value in it because what I have here and what everyone has else where for general experience is different, and the only thing I more or less *can* see the value in is what we know will happen eventually

im trying to prepare for an eventuality that we know is coming, I dont see much reason to invest in something I know is going to be outclassed in one respect, and am trying to see the best I can make of it.
(and BTW, if there is a mega blaziken, it will completely eclipse machamp as a fighting attacker)

#1 Always optimize to the best of your ability. Especially with the Regis I expect number of people at 5* to drop. Best be prepared.

#2 You tend to post about things with niche uses, like Aggron. I have 3 lvl 40 Aggron. I use them a few times a week when autoselect grabs them and I hurry through the prepare to fight screens to beat people I know golden razz. That's a niche use. I use 6 Machamp a few times a day. That isn't.

#3 If the gym defender scene is different in your local meta... optimize to that.

#4 Machamp is one of if not the singlemost useful mon *generally* speaking.

#5 Everything is faced with powercreep. Do the most you can with what you have instead of continually delaying because you might be faced with a.better option. Remember, the mon you have *don't get worse*. Alternatives just develop.

Please stop the the machamop best thing, we all know it isnt true, it has machups against difficult pokemon yes, but not everyone uses those so please stop saying something we all know isnt true 100%, it doesnt match up agaist nearly as many things as people like to admit in gym, only 3 pokemon that can easily be countered otherways

I know it has a lot of matchumps, but right now fire is the best option agaisnt ice and steel

the number of people at 5* wont drop, as the rewards dont change, people go to tier 5s not for the legendaries but for the rewards even when the legendary is trash, look at latias.

Right. Latias, the one where halfway through its tour in the western hemisphere they had to drop in shiny Ho-Oh to keep people attending T5 raids. Bad legendary to pick to make your case.

Well for one thing you sorta dug the Machamp hole yourself by tirelessly shitting on it every chance you could, prime example being when you said Machamp would be useless because Giratina resists it. Also unless you live in a highly active gym scene the defense game is a joke, most shitters will get you the same amount of coins a maxed out ZH/DG Blissey would. Machamp happens to be the best gym counter because fighting is super effective against what few bulky defenders there are, and anything that takes even neutral damage will fall just as fast.

For two you've made some wildly outlandish claims about what has and hasn't worked for you (Rhydon doing better against Tyranitar than Machamp, Aggron for pretty much anything...). Excuse us for being critical when the numbers simply don't add up.

Planning ahead is all well and good, but mega evolutions probably won't happen until the Gen 6 rollout and that's another 2-3 years out most likely. Not saying it isn't possible but I'd be surprised if they started dropping megas sooner since at least one Pokemon in gens 1-6 have one. Alolan forms are different since only Kanto Pokemon have them.

Are you really gonna withhold resources from an S class option because a better option is YEARS out? If it were around the corner that'd be one thing, but this likely isn't the case.

I still stand by what I said back then and now, I do admit my useage of a good one after having a trash one did open my eyes to its use, but I still do see the problems it has, and that it isnt the one punch to kill everything people act like it is.
>it takes too many potions to heal, depleting supplies for players who dont have much space
>its counters in raids have little use outside of machamp raids, resources can be better spent elsewhere
>almost every tier 5 legendary with the exception of 8, 6 of which will have better counteres else where, either take neutral damage or resist machamp making it obsolete in that regard
>its primary use is countering gym pokemon that everyone equips to counter machamp
The only merit I do agree with it on it high DPS and being useful against raids, but even then, it suffers from drawbacks

Those statemes were about use of a machamp i had with terrible attack iv's when compared to a same level aggron and rhydon with higher IV's, my experiences stated otherwise and that was the basis for what I said

And people said they weren't going to do alolan forms until gen VII, well guess what, the already did them, saying megas wont be out until gen VI because thats when the last pokemon gets one isnt valid when only 2 get megas after gen IV, audino and diancie (one of whom Is a mythical that will likely be a special research quest)

I'm having problems understanding your issue with healing. After a certain point, all mon cost about the same to heal: 1 revive and 1 hyper potion, which are a reasonably common drop combo. For context, I have about 500 items...400 of which are healing.

Second, a dedicated raid counter team to amass candy for an optimum mon? Why do they need a ton more uses? (And I will agree - I rarely use my counters bar legacy Exeggutor in other situations, including the Mewtwos.)

my bag is only 450 slots, I started in febuary.

being lower leveled and not having access the mass quantaties of stardust and candy other players had means im at a lower leveled, so theres a huge stat gap, most players are fighting level 40's with other level 40's, not level 40's with level 30>'s thats why healing items are a problem, im at that point where 2.5 hyper potions are what would heal pokemon to full hp after revive, so healing items get wasted, a lot.

pokemon like tyranitar and even my perfect machamp have more candy that I would ever need to power up at my level, I have over 800 for machamp from the fighting event alone.

being a player who was new to the game I got to experience the game without the influence of things like this sight, my second raid was a machamp because friends told me how helpful it was, and didnt do anything of use until 2-3 months later when I did my first tyranitar raid, the interveaning time it single handedly drained my potion , revive, tm and stardust supply, all that input with absolutely no worth while return for so long is the reason I dislike it, 'inferior' pokemon were more useful to me in the area I was, both in terms of healing items being more efficient or somethign else.

>where 2.5 hyper potions are what would heal pokemon to full hp after revive, so healing items get wasted, a lot.

Explain this because it isn't making any sense to me. Revives bring a Pokemon to half health and Hyper Potions heal 200HP per use. How do you go through more than that per Pokemon?

Dude you're putting WAY too much stock into IVs. Base stats + moves will trump IVs any day of the week. A 0IV Gengar with Shadow Claw will have almost twice the DPS as a 15IV Gengar with Hex. Have you TM'ed your boi Machamp to double fighting? Because double steel is the only instance where Rhydon would out-DPS it against a Ttar, and even then Rhydon needs Rock Smash and Surf/Earthquake.

If potions are scarce for you I can understand tilting towards tankier options. Some suggestions would be to focus more on spinning gym discs over regular ones or focus on taking out low-motivation gyms instead of full health ones. Unless something changed, gym discs are more likely to give out healing items. If bag space is an issue chuck some berries or balls until you get coins to improve it.

While a curveball, the Alolan form thing could also have stemmed more as a result of LGPE coming out in Fall. Megas are less likely since hold items don't appear to be a thing in those games, not to mention their being restricted to the first 151. On top of that, we don't even know how megas will work in Go; Maybe they require 10 candy or something each battle to mega evolve, burning through resources with repeated use. Again, that's all speculation.

"I have seriously had enough with machamp jokes, every time I mention anything"

And that's why it will never stop, ....

Don't let it bug you. Everyone has their fixations, and we like to poke fun on occasion. Now, if someone were to hurl racial insults at you, then I'd be right next to you with my four fists raised to oppose them.

Its mostly the fact that they dont ever seem to acknowledge the drawbacks of it, yes, I get it, I dont like machamp, and people find it funny to bring it up when I make a comment about fighting types beign useful, but I point out legitimate flaws with it (and really any other popular pokemon that goes against popular oppinion), and no one listens. The acknowledgment of only what it is good at and not what it isnt are what bothers me not the jokes themselves.

If you insist that your local gym meta is different, then tell us more about it (such as the most common defenders and how long gyms typically last) so we can advise you accordingly. I have a similar problem with others advising me not to invest in defenders (because gym defence is a joke in their area, but not in mind) and the resulting jokes about Singapore.

The only flaw you ever point out is that it's not good against Gardevoir and Lugia, which no one was claiming. You also claim that fire is better than fighting for Regice/Ice in general and the highest DPS order goes 1. Breloom 2. Moltres 3. Machamp

Enjoy your Blaziken now, MegaBlaziken comes later. You can find another good Torchic in the meantime.

I'm sure there will be another Fire and Ice Solstice Event that will boost Torchic spawns. In the meantime I'm sure you can find a use for your Blaziken. He did well for me against Pinsir raids

It can be used as fire attacker, but as fighting- hes a joke compared to Machamp, even if you dont like it.
