Biome Guides?
I've heard things about Biomes in pokemon GO, and I haven't really found much useful about them, is it a defunct system, or is it just not well tracked? And if it is a system still in place, could there be a guide or page on here about them?
all I really found is dratini near water biomes, but thats all

One finds more fire and ground types in desert areas. The woodsy areas around my house have a lot of Eevees. So one really figures out the biome by observing what spawns there.
Biomes are less critical now that we have weather. Whatever is weather buffed appears more often, so that gives more variety if one mainly plays in one region.
Biomes are definitely still a thing.
I live in Toronto and, outside of event Pokemon, see a pretty typical mix of the same Pokemon. Some Pokemon practically never spawn in the area. For example, I still don't have enough diglett candy to evolve my first dugtrio. However we went to Orlando recently and my girlfriend had a signal there and caught over 40 diglett in just 3 days (I didn't have an international plan so nothing for me).
Biomes are basically gigantic nests, if you think about it.
Here is an outdated guide for gen 1-2:

Though I don't see anything for gen 3 we can use our travel experience to fill in the holes:
- I've noticed that Wingull, Anorith, Omanyte, Lileep, and Kabuto seem to spawn in Ocean biomes but not really in Water biomes
- The Mountain Biome also spawns Larvitar and Dragonites at above-average rates
- There is definitely some sort of "Industrial" Biome, i don't know if this is or overlaps with the "Electric" Biome, but I do know that they seem to spawn Pokemon like Torchic, Machop, Rhyhorn, Trapinch, Porygon, Bagon, and Beldum
- The "Residential" biome seems to spawn, among others, Ralts and Snorlax
- Dratini and Feebas spawn in both Ocean and Water (River) biomes
- Also noticed that my local large mall was a hotspot for Porygon. This is normally a super-rare Pokemon so there's something to be drawn from that
Dratini, Feebas, and Magikarp tend to spawn at the same places. (Source: my local pokestop often has the three of these more often than the typical water stop and NO other water pokemon except Psyduck. Go figure)
Electabuzz, Magmar, and Jynx spawn (and get dedicated spawn points, but not nests) more frequently by our train station and in a particular park; the local industrial park got increased Magnemites until February events, after which it seems to have dropped back to general levels.
Residential does seem to spawn Ralts and Snorlax - most of the ones in my local group have been caught in neighborhoods, or at a particular set of neighborhood shops with two stops (including a proper nest) and something like 19 total spawn points accessible from the car park. 1 stardust piece + there + my home spawns with the water event was enough to pump my level 38 machamp to level 40.
Interestingly, the same shops also spawn Lapras at an increased frequency - the theory is that it's somehow tied to the increased Snorlax spawns, as Lapras is very rare elsewhere in the area. FURTHER, this neighborhood gets increased ghost spawns (4-5x) compared to the rest of the town; the above mentioned shops usually have at least 1 during the night time, and have more frequent nests. Ditto also frequently spawns in the area, to the point where I can almost guarantee 1 a day at home w/no event interference.
(NB: we used to have a local map, covering about 20-24 square km centred over a town approximately 16 sq km, and that's the baseline I use for the notes above. I have 2 dedicated spawn points accessible from my house, with another 13-14 standard spawn points. Our typical weather is Cloudy, with Windy and Rainy next. This evidence is all anecdotal, but is reflective of my town's experience.)
