Alolan stuff

Alolan forms are just alternate versions of specific existing kanto mons that carry different movesets and typing. Some may also differ in terms of stats, but I don't really remember.

Most are "alolan" from the start (example: Alolan Muk evolves from Alolan Grimer, not normal Grimer), but some do evolve from the base forms that we have now. Those are:

Exeggute>Alolan Exeggutor. Grass/Dragon type, EASILY a favorite due to how rediculous it looks.

Pikachu>Alolan Raichu. Electric/Psychic, surfer dude that rides its own tail like a board.

Cubone>Alolan Marowak. Ghost/Fire type, probably the best Alolan form in the main series. If we ever get held items and Thick Club is released in a manner similar to what it is in the main series, this guy will be a MONSTER (thick club doubles the attack stat of a marowak)

As for the rest... We don't know. They're going to be here "in the coming weeks", and thats it.

....I'm personally excited for Alolan Muk. Its typing is downright amazing: weak to nothing but ground. I'm hoping to see it as a good defender!

I'm gonna be honest the only ones worth mentioning are Alolan Muk, Sandslash, Golem and Exeggutor. Muk has only one weakness which is ground and it has the same stats as the normal muk so using it wouldn't be so bad. Same goes for Sandslash, but its typing is horrible. Exeggutor is the one who catches my attention though it looks like it could have a good time around Water types and it's attack is the same as the original. Alolan Golem has more attack than Raikou in the main games, but I guess it will keep the same stats as the normal Golem. Anyway , Alolan Golem would work well against flying types. The other ones are too dependent on abilities or items or are simply bad. Ninetales and Persian depend on abilities while Marowak depends on items. Raticate depends on both and Raichu/Dugtrio have no repair

I won't talk too much about Alolan forms because people have already explained but I'll talk about how i think they might work. But in short, Alolan forms are Kanto (gen 1) Pokemon with different typing's and sometimes different stats. They will have the same pokedex entry number as the regular pokemon too.

I think the candy is going to be shared across the regular and Alolan forms of the Pokemon. But you will be able to catch new Alolan forms in the wild too. So if you want an Alolan Ninetales you will have to catch an Alolan Vulpix and evolve it. Whereas some Pokemon don't have Alolan forms but their evolution's do. For example, there is no such thing as an Alolan Cubone, but if you evolve a Cubone at night in the Alolan region (talk about this in next paragraph) it will evolve into an Alolan Marowak.

In the main series games the regular pokemon only evolve into the Alolan forms if you're in the Alola region which is exclusive to the sun and moon games. So people aren't even sure how this is going to work in future main series titles, yet alone in PoGo. But my prediction is you will be able to catch 1st evolution stage pokemon like Vulpix and evolve them with regular Vulpix candy into Alolan Ninetales. But something like Cubone will rather have to be evolved during a possible 'event', evolved with a special requirement or just caught outright (maybe through raids).

Alolan Golem and Exeggutor are the only 2 likely to be relevant. Golem will gain extra resistance to flying types with it's electrtic typing and could get wild charge. Exeggutor should have better stats so hopefully it can still learn Grass/Grass moves whilst also gaining extra water resistance with the dragon typing.
