Give me one of those RT/SE, please. Best rock type attacker in the game (counters Charizard, Dragonite and Gyarados). Still trying to evolve a Golem with those moves. If you want MS/SE, you're better off with a Rhydon anyway.

I wish i could give.
But rock throw seems pretty weak vs mud slap.
I only want to invest star dust in best move golem only.

Why not invest in one of the MS/EQ Golems? Golem is not a good defender anyway, so I suspect you'd be using him on attack vs a defender who is weak to ground. IMO attackers with the same move type on quick and charge attacks are superior to mixed ones as a general rule.

Rock Throw Golem is actually underrated due to lower DPS than MS. However, RT offers 11 EPS vs 9 EPS for MS, so you will be using Stone Edge a lot more often with RT as a quick move. Also, for attacking into Charizard, Gyarados and Dragonite, Mud Slap is not very effective, while RT is super effective.

That is for enemies that are not weak to rock types. Ranking is not absolute...

Besides the legacy Omastar RT/RS, it's the only other double rock moveset. It's B-rated against a neutral Pokemon, but against the right matchup, it'll be better, and the only currently obtainable Pokemon that fills that niche.

Also MS/EQ is better than MS/SE. SE doing 2.6 more true DPS doesn't mean that it's better. Your overall DPS from using quick moves and then using your charge move is higher with MS/EQ than MS/SE.

Also EQ provides more usable type advantages compared to SE. Two of the types that Rock is super effective against (Bug and Flying) resist ground, so you wouldn't use MS/SE against them anyway, and Ice is SE to ground so you wouldn't use a MS/SE against an Ice Pokemon either, because their quick moves (and probably charge move too) would be SE while only your charge move would be SE, putting you at a disadvantage.

The last type is Fire which ground is also SE against, but Ground also provides increased damage to poison, electric, rock and steel that Rock type moves don't.

Charizard - water
Dragonite - double weakness to ice
Gyarados - double weakness to electric

I have a high iv golem with RT/SE but rock doesn't really have any great type advantages to seem worth investing dust in.

Actually rock moves are better than water ones against charizard.

Sure, there are better niche attackers against those 3 isolated, but if you face them all 3 in a row in a gym, you could actually have a Golem strong enough to take them all on. Jolteon could possibly do it, but from my experience it's a bit too weak (maybe I just need to max mine out). I like the idea of filling another niche, which is why I want a pure rock type Golem. After the update, he's just such a happy tank.

I feel ya. Took advantage of a geodude nest recently and evolved 3 Golem all with ancient power. FML

I just posted my own Golem/Rhydom question.
My Golem with MS/EQ beats good Snorlaxs.
