Moltres power up poll
Hello! I missed Moltres as a raid boss, and the best I got out of 4 breakthroughs is 82% iv 13A/14D/10S... is it worth powering up? I must mention that I missed Entei as well, and my best 2 fire attackers are FS/Ovh Charizard and Flareon in the L30-33 range, with a weather boosted L35 15A Charmeleon waiting for Community Day. Thank you all!

No.
I maxed mine up last year...it's been almost a year. I used my Moltres for:
1. Venasaur Boss
2. Victreebel Boss
3. 1v1 Solo Pinsir/Scyther Challenge
4. Solar Beam Groudon, especially in Sunny weather
5. Occasional Blissey fight in Sunny weather
None of the above, except for probably Solar-beam Groudon, is meta-relevant.
And since Charizard could be pretty strong if it gets a powerful Blast Burn, and that Gen 4 is coming with a lot of strong Fire-types, powering Moltres from L15 up at this point of time is quite risky. If you really need a Fire-type, go get a Flareon. It's cheap in high level Eevee and doesn't require Rare Candy
Moltres could be useful when the titans drop as bosses. But you can always save the candy now and wait it out. You don't NEED a fire type to fight the current bosses, unless you are targeting Tier 3/4 bosses that are weak to fire.
I can't remember the last time I've used a fire type in a raid. Have a trip down memory lane:
Beasts- you can't use fire for any of them
Ho-Oh- you can't use fire
Groudon- possibly the first case where fire is usable but this coincided with the gyarados buff, so why moltres/any fire type?
Kyogre- fire unusable
Rayquaza- fire unusable
Lugia Mk 2- fire types usable if not HP but again, why?
Lati Twins- fire unusable yet again
So yeah that sums up the usability of fire types in pokemon go raids.
I fought jynx with fire types before (flareon, moltres and arcanine mainly, I don't have an entei)
It was a complete disaster- confusion hits so hard you really want the dark typing, and avalanche, even while resisted as a fire type (except flying), still deals significant damage. My fire squads fainted out and I had to use dark types (5x Ttar) for a more reliable win.
Maybe against draining kiss, fire types will be usable.
This pretty much sums up why I havent powered up moltres or Entei and 65 candy are sitting idle in each of them. I am considering powering 1 solely for the purposes of soloing pinsir.
Investment in fire types has historically not been necessary. I have exactly one flareon I have invested in and that was primarily to have some defender diversity in 10 stack days. 2700+ CP put it 3rd or 4th in some gyms between vapors and Gary making attackers change from eggy.
It really depends on what you are looking for. If you care more about having the absolute best attackers, then probably not. There will be better or equal attackers that you can get for a lot less of an investment. If you really like Moltres and want to have a powerful one, then definitely power it up. You don't have to make it your top priority, but after waiting this long for a Moltres, do you really just want to let it sit at level 15? This is still a game, so I say just do whatever is going to give you the most enjoyment.
Figured I might ask a similar question here. Should I power-up Moltres, and which one should I power up?
I also have 4 lvl 15 Moltres. My best 3:
- 13/15/15 (atk/def/sta). Charge move Fire Blast
- 15/15/10. Charge move Heat Wave
- 13/10/13. Charge move Overheat
This won't be for at least a few months, as getting enough Moltres Candy to level up Moltres will take a long time. I rarely raid, and only solo raids. I have 27 Moltres Candy. Also have 2 rare candy and 1 charged TM. I have about 190,000 stardust, enough to power-up Moltres to lvl 35, but don't walk around enough to quickly generate candy (on average <1km a day on PoGo). My trainer lvl is 34, nearly 35.
My current best Fire-type is Arcanine, CP 2524, 14/12/15, Fire Fang and Flamethrower - back from the days where Arcanine had one of the best CPs in the game.
