Didn't catch Mewtwo :(

I had 7 balls. 1 miss, a few excellent curveballs, a couple great curveballs, and a nice. This is the first out of 4 legendary raids I've done that I've missed, and it was the most important.

I felt the need to blog this here. My life must be pretty uneventful for this to be a significant issue in it. Maybe I should get a job. At least I don't live in Syria, right?

I always hear about people getting their Mewtwos easily, yet almost all of mine have been by the skin of my teeth.

Oh well, luckily, unlike current raid bosses Mewtwo seems to be sticking around for a long time (longer than any other), and right now there are a couple of Psychic dragons that at least aren't too bad either.

I live on a gym, but no one ever comes to do 4 or 5 star raids. I hope I get another EX pass. Maybe next time I will go home before throwing balls at Mewtwo instead of doing it while awkwardly standing in the corner of the supermarket.

Update: I just caught mine with only 2 balls remaining, so I still don't understand how people always have such an easy time with it.

Today I pinapped the first 6 throws, jumped out. Caught it on first golden razz though.

First Mewtwo, caught it on the last ball. Was grateful to the team mate who took and held the gym so I got the two bonus balls.

Second Mewtwo, caught it on the 4th ball of 8, third hit.

Like any raid, it's just luck. If you miss your throws, it's less likely. But if you throw well, hit a lot of greats, and don't catch, well, nothing you can do except wait until next time. Unfortunately, for Mewtwo, next time can be a while. But if you got one, you'll get another. Keep doing raids in EX eligible gyms, and it will probably happen.

I gave up on getting Mewtwo when I realized that Rayquaza took the DPS king.

Hey, at least you got the dex image... I wasn't even allowed to have that because people don't know me and think I must be a spoofer. Got my 2nd EX Raid tomorrow and I fear I'll run into the same "I don't care, they say you're a spoofer, we don't need any proof!" guy.
I could be going to another park where I have higher chances of catching the pink Mareep at least, but will try the EX again... at the risk of wasting my battery in vain.

Why would you be a spoofer if you show up in person? Are you telling me you show up to raids and people tell you to not join? I'd join anyway. Screw them.

They think I spoof when they're not there, they think I take their gyms while not being there, yet the lazy ones can't move themselves over to check if someone's around the gym or not. They just settle for "Our gyms are taken in the evening while we are not there. Therefore, spoofers!"
I took a look on their facebook group and they have accused many others of this stuff because they do not know who they are, but they see their level is above 30.
I have only met and spoken to 4 people. Just 4! And neither of them are part of the group that accused me. One of them got accused by them, and yet I see him around quite often. So where are these accuser people in the evening? And who was trying to silence me on Facebook by reporting my FB username hoping i'd be unable to post for 7 days if i didn't change it? I will probably never find out.

Also, you cannot join a private group.

Isn't there some trick where you can join a private group by keeping the first 2 pokemon default and keep switching the 3rd one til it lets you join? Hopefully you won't run into any problems but if you do, give that trick a try!

I've heard about that but they probably patched it by now, it was an old bug. And anyway I've heard crazier Bucharest stories about some guys and one of them threatening to whack a girl with her head onto the windshield of his car for occupying their gyms. I hope those guys don't wander into this area, and I have no idea about the temperaments of these people around here.

I hate to think of it this way, but you could always consider having a friend take your phone and joining at the last moment so they don't see your username

Because if I had friends, we'd be raiding all day. I only spoke a bit with some players and that was it.

I think you should show up super early and try to strike up a convo with the 2nd person that shows up. Get your Mewtwo!

There won't be a 2nd person but a full group like last time.
This is how it went:
> I show up super early, feed all their mons on the EX Raid gym.
> Nobody is there.
> I wait. Raid starts. Nobody there still.
> Raid has about half an hour left.
> 2 cars pull up. Out of one car, a group comes out. The others remain in the car and the first group pokes fun about them.
> I ask them if I can join join. I tell them I heard what was being said about me on the group.
> They say they don't care about accusations or if someone is a spoofer or such and allowed me in.
> Another guy comes out of the car and asks: "Who are you?"
> I tell him my username.
> He says "You're a spoofer. I don't know about the rest of guys, but I do not raid with spoofers."
> I tell him he can check my account, I don't have any regionals (excluding Farfetch'd which was given in the event).
> He refuses and says "Nobody has ever seen you around here. They all say you're a spoofer."

This is a social game, and in reality some places just have bad communities.

In my area I'm fortunate enough that I can choose because the community has several sub-communities, and there are a few places I choose not to raid in because of the people, among other reasons.

Yeah some communities are worse than this one.
There's one in a park I've never been to but planned to visit one day ... until I've read that there are people who consider they own the gyms there and that you need to walk with a telescopic baton or other blunt weapon there if you're a player...

Again, you may or may not list all of their usernames here, and we can help you report them. As long as there are several reports, Niantic usually does some actions.

I have 0 usernames of these people, I have never seen any of them around any gyms when I'm there, the Mystics (their majority) have no activity during the evening (except their admin who comes at 11 pm - 1 am but I've never met in person), not since the beginning of this year anyway. There used to be 3 Mystics who slotted in after me last year and were physically present, I only remember the username of one and I was told nobody knows him.

You should get a job at that supermarket so you can do all the raids!

You are not alone. My second Ex raid I had 12 balls, first throw was nice, the rest were good or excellent, Mewtwo popped out of every single ball and ran away...

Try to split in groups to get more balls.

I didn't care to find any other players since I'm shy. I didn't want to take the chance of not beating Mewtwo so I just joined the first group. My shyness may have been my downfall. Alternatively, there might not have been another group of my team so who knows.
