Rhydon ( 1682 CP), 91% and Best moves ?
I have a low CP Rhydon (1682) with best attack/defence moves (Mud Slap/Stone Edge) and a 91% IV (12/15/14), Should I Power it up ?

One strategy I use is to power up a little at a time so it's not such a huge hit. I'm trying to bank a lot of stardust in case something unexpected/awesome happens in the future (like Gen2), and I'll find myself needing a lot for something. So I have established a floor of 600k. When I get enough over that to power up one or two mon (or just one a few times), I will. That way, I don't get stressed that I'm stardust poor, and I'm still leveling up some.
That said, I slowly powered up my Rhydon (MS/E) and finally got to level 30. I use it almost daily and really enjoy it. But for me, it wasn't lack of stardust; it was candy. So I was forced to power up slowly, as my Rhydon buddy found one candy at a time. (And wouldn't you know that as soon as I got that last candy to finally reach level 30, I hatched two Rhyhorns in a row and now have around 30 candies.)
Well... powering up a pokemon for only 1 match up is a waste of stardust...
Try it at least once, juste to see if it's not too slow, according to you.
Train a gym for example, and see if it's worth it or not.
But trust me, against snorlax you prefer having a strong vaporeon or dragonite...
I prefer having dragonites 3000+ CP that can hit almost everything instead of a slow Rhydon that can hit only snorlax...
And if you are looking for diversity, Venusaur, Vaporeon, Arcanine, Dragonite, Alakazam are pokemons that you can use almost everywhere, almost all the time against almost every single defenders.
Don't be fooled by CP update, arcanine is still a beast, it can still hit snorlax and lapras. Even dragonites...
But Rhydon is still useless in most cases...
Defending with rhydon is still not usefull at all. Vaporeon kicks him without any pain.
Slowbro would be more anoying than a rhydon...
Then the decision is up to you.
snorlax are CP 1500-2000?
because in my area snorlax are PC 3000+. And at this point, rhydons has its limits.
Vaporeon are a lot easier to use, even with less CP.
I used rhydons several times and I was absolutely not convinced.
Using so much stardust for this pokemon is really pointless to me.
But in the end, you make the decision^^
Go for it. Rhydon is a high cp pokemon. At the gyms, it will always stay high and guarantee it will last longer, what I think is the most important thing, as I can only get coins with this as a free-to-play player.
And man, you got a high IV one with a nice moveset. I think there is no real reasons about not spending your stardusts on it.
IF they are very common in your area I think you should consider evolving the largest one you have instead. When you find one that is level 28+ with acceptable IV's i'd evolve and power that one up.
1700 CP Rhyhorn is just too damn low and if its a common mon you will get a bigger one with similar IV's regularly. Im sitting on 8+ Rhyhorns over 2600 cp and havnt powered up any of them. My largest Rhyhorn is 2715 cp which I evolved from a 1345ish Rhydon I found in the wild.
Im level 35 and my mons cost 10 candies and 8000 stardust to power up on my next level up. Assuming I have 10 mons I wanna max, thats a 160K stardust commitment(I have about 7 currently). Many here talk like they will max 50+ mons but Im telling you thats not possible.
Rhydon has limited use as an attacker (i.e. Snorlax), and he's so slow as a defender that he's basically useless. Vaporeon can fit in 5 water guns between Rhydon's mud slap attacks, and can fire off Aqua Tail between quick moves and still dodge everything.
Rhydon is still basically irrelevant in this meta. Don't waste your stardust, you're better off powering up a better attacker -- Snorlax, Dragonite, Alakazam, etc.
Rhydon maxes at 3300 cp and is 55 cp from being the 2nd largest mon in the game, thats hardly irrelevant. For many players it will be the largest mon they have for months. Does you advice apply to the majority on this site who dont have Snorlax or Dragonite? Or just to the people who have 10 100% iv Dragonites?
max CP is only one part of the equation -- but 3300 CP doesn't mean anything when the most common pokemon in the gym meta (Vaporeon) literally destroys a Rhydon with ease.
Every single player in the game has a pokemon that can kill multiple 3000 CP Rhydons with effective dodging. It's irrelevant, dude. Stop defending bad pokemon just because it has high max CP. That's stupid.
