Does the event make ditto more rare or more common?

Im currently stuck on the ditto quest. With the event happening I see less pidgeys, rattatas as well as other gen pokemons that can be a ditto. On the other hand the event is increasing the spawn rate of gen 1 pokemons and that includes ditto. I live in NYC and can go to the city to hunt the purple mucus either saturday or sunday. I wonder if I should go before or after the event ends.

If anything, since Ditto is a Gen 1 mon, it's got to be spawning more. It just so happens that with pigeons and rats etc spawning less, your Ditto is much more likely to show up as a Gastly. So, if you want a Ditto, catch every Gastly you can find.

And Magikarps too, no? I heard Magikarps were back as being ditto. And they're spawning like crazy as well

Haven't ever had a Magikarp turn out to be a Ditto, personally. But in addition to Gastly, Ratattata, and Pidgey there is also Zubat in Gen 1 as a potential Ditto.

When I was catching the last Magikarp I needed to have my first ever Gary (397 candy or something) it turned into ditto. I was so frustrated as I didn't live near water and would rarely see Karps....
This was long time ago but I read somewhere on Silphroad that Magikarp-Ditto had returned (I never knew it was gone), but not sure if it's true.

Niantic increased gastly spawns for quests completion. So maybe they also increased ditto spawns. If not , i don't think they have reduced it! Also gastly can be a ditto! I caught 1 yesterday!

If you care about mew candies it's better to complete quests before the end of event

TrainerTips Nick tried that out but candy wasnt doubled for Mew in his case, despite the event.

I just evolved Mew. Nick is only 1/2 correct. When you catch you will get 6 candy instead of the normal 3. You also get the base 20 mew candy.

So you finish with 26 mew candy instead of 23.

Or rather 32 instead of 26

You can't pinap mew.

Ok than only 3 candies doesn't make a big difference.

Mew cannot be fed berries, so no Pinaps

I have noticed a massive increase in Gastlys and some turned out to be Dittos.

I was very frustrated too and then last night boom, a gastly that becomes ditto and now all I need to do is battle in 10 raids to get past the next lvl. Luck really can change in an instant.

Yeah I'm on day 10 of trying to catch Ditto! Well over 600+ ditto-types caught but nada so far....grrrr!!! I knew this would be the hardest part to reach Mew. I've already got enough candies for my SECOND Gyarados since this event started. Since they introduced more Kantos Pidgeys and Rattattas are no longer available in my area. Magikarp can't be Ditto, so all I can do is catch a rare Ghastly and hope. Over 75+ of those with no luck yet. They seriously need to bump the Ditto chance up!!! I mean if they're introducing more Kanto into the game just because people can't seem to get 100 out of 151 Kanto types to reach Mew...Ditto needs to be easier to find as well.

I already have 5 dittos, mostly from hoothoots and pidgeys. Now when I actually need it most I can’t find them anymore -.-
