How to progress Quest with no pidgey/rattata to spawn ditto?

I'm on 5/8 of the Mythical Discovery and need a ditto - no joy in four days pre-Kanto event. Not seen anything that can hide a ditto since. Is this just my bad luck or a total roadblock for the next week?

I caught a Ditto disguised as Whismur this morning. Maybe possibly the Gen2-3 pokemon that can be disguised as Ditto might be more likely to be Ditto.

Gastly still can be a Ditto, I've caught one disguised as it today.

Ah. That is helpful since we need both those quests at the same time.

Thanks for that - I hope there are still going to be some Ditto disguises out there, but I've only seen the bigger Gen 1 mons since the start of the event.

I've caught loads of great gen1 not seen for ages and I'm loving having geodude, charmander, bulbasaur, exeggcute etc around again (most haven't been seen in this small town for months) but none of the "base level" mons that Ditto hides in. Used to catch dittos all the time when I don't want one but now......

I'm complaining about having an embarrassment of riches for a week I suppose but it's still annoying being stalled on the ditto catching stage with no sign of anything that can be a ditto.

I caught a Rattata and a Pidgey today, but they are nowhere near as common as they usually are. Keep looking, you might get lucky. Also caught my first and second Solrock today (far apart, 20 minute drive, just weird).

There are still rattata and pidgey spawns, although very diluted. Try gastly, it can be a ditto and they are spawning a lot in order to help people finding ditto and completing the ghost quest.
