Machamp To be or not to be ?

I have a Machamp with the legacy moveset (karate chop / Cross Chop).
Should I used my one and only TM at the moment in a gamble to change Cross Chop to Dynamic Punch ?
How much more would that add to his DPS ?

Can't you get another Machamp? I have like 20, most of them caught in raids. At least you keep the legacy moveset. Who knows, might be useful in the future.

I have other Machamps with C/DP.
I was think since KC has better energy gains then Counter that maybe the DPS would be even greater with CP/DP

I vote no, some places you could get 5 boosted Machamps in one day. There also will be other events that they give so much stardust that we get tired of taking it.

I'm at a point where I'm transferring them now unless they have C/DP and are above 95 percent. And even then I'm like ''eh''.
I wish I had one with KC/CC just to fight gyms with

So you guys don’t think the energy gain difference is enough to make a real change in its performance.
By the way the change would be from 8.89 EPS to 12.50 EPS

So this is the heart of the question.
Is a kC/DP Machamp better than a C/DP Machamp?

I like high EPS quick moves because I'm a dodger. KC/DP is still a great choice and it could potential survive longer than C/DP Machamp with a well-timed dodge and then in turn wind up doing more damage. I wouldn't say it's better though. People are using teams of C/DP Machamps to reliably duo Absol, Ttar and Houndoom and not dodging at all. It's down to personal prefernce really

All things being equal and with no dodging will the energy gain form KC be enough for the KC/DP to outperform the C/DP in DPS

I would say no. Someone else can explain why in more mathematical terms than I can. You can always run a simulation in Pokebattler and see for yourself

Yes you were correct but it was close
According to Pokebattler against a 2000 cp Aeodactly
A 2700 cp C/DP Machamp would have a DPS of 20.44
And KC/DP would have a DPS of 20.12
So I will keep this Machamp with both of his legacy moves

How many reps did u do? Trying it out just once is NOT reliable, as it doesnt take into account the two random variables into account thah are number of opp. quick and charge moves. Usually I do 5 reps and jidge by the average.

I ran it three times
But it was so close; either way I don’t see much of a difference DPS to justify changing a legacy move

I did some quick sims by myself against a L40 perfect Zen-DG Blissey and its true, that the DPS was roughly identical for both, about 16 DPS. I also prefer moves with better dodgebility, so Id stick with KC for sure!

Yeah a think so too
I loss way more in dodgablty than I will gain in DPS

I'll just tell you that I had the same brilliant idea. I spent SEVEN charge TM's, toggling between close combat and heavy slam. In the meantime, I acquired a couple more C/DP Machamps and Hariyamas, and I finally gave up on the KC 'Champ because it's IV's weren't that great anyway (low attack IV, which really hurts moves like KC). Now, that Machamp is stuck with KC/close combat, and I wish I had kept cross chop.
