So now Ampharos will be a good defender?

I... this... wha...?
The April Community Day is really confusing me. First, Mareep - a rare Pokémon lineage that has very little actual use right now but because of its' rarity, makes it intriguing - and likely that most Players don't have more than 1 decent one. So... interesting Pokémon choice.
Then the "bonus" is 1/4 walking distance. Which is... wha? Judging by the last 2 community days, there isn't going to be much walking done - the focus is to catch as many as you can in the short time frame because you need 124 candies to get that Unique Move, and you want to catch as many as you can to get a Shiny. So... you stop when you find a spawn of 3+ Pokémon, catch them, and move on to the next big spawn. Which leads to very little walking in the 3 hours. So... you walk a lot here and don't have a chance to catch as many Mareep. Which is... weird.
And then a DRAGON move? When we're in the middle of 2 Legendary Dragon's being released, a Dragon Community day 2 months earlier, and the highest attacking Dragon Legendary having been released for a month close to the April Community Day?
I don't get the thinking here. Are they hoping to create a metaphorical Platypus?
Well, the next spawn of 3+ for me are 50~100m apart (60 ~ 110 yards), so I'll definitely hatch some eggs in this event walking between spawns.
The dragon move only makes sense IF when you mega evolve, you keep your old moves, besides that, dragon pulse on ampharos isn't so useful.
The move should be Wild Charge or Volt Tackle, to keep with moves learnt by a Move Tutor.
With Wild Charge, Ampharos would replace Jolteon as best non-legendary electric pokemon
This really breaks my heart. After they made Venasuar top Grass type I was hoping to have an Ampharous in my line up for instance for Lugia I have a 40 Raikou, 40 Zapados and a 40 Jolteon "I don't like maxing the same Pokemon twice" So i was hoping Ampharos got a good 2 bar charge move to make a 4th electric type... Why Niantic WWWWWHHHHHYYYYY!!!!!!!
