How do you calculate DPS?

I see different sites with different DPS...any some aren't even close.

The simplest way is to divide the damage the attack does by the time it takes to make it. Literally "Damage per Second".

The best way is to calculate cycle DPS by using the fast attack enough to get a charged attack off, then make the charged attack, and take the total damage done divided by the total time it takes to make all the attacks.

So there can be variance based on how the DPS is calculated, as well as if they are taking STAB, Weakness/Resistance, and Weather into account.

Thanks for answering. Well, how do you know which quick attack to use? Because obviously Pokemon can have the same charge move but different quick moves and this would result in a different DPS, right?

If you're doing the simple way, calculate it for each attack. For CDPS, calculate the value for each combination of fast and charged move.

Are you confusing DPS, DPE, and TDO? Here are a few links regarding damage.
