Magikarp task

If I already evolved a magikarp, does it count for the mew task? Or do I have to evolve another one?

Another one if you did it before you got the quest.

Future lesson, don't evolve Wailmer or Swablu until you see the requirements for Celebi (or whoever is next)

I would take it further, don't evolve anything you don't absolutely need now unless you have enough candy to evolve more than one.

Yeah, I could see Milotic or Ludicolo or Special Evo item Pokemon becoming tasks in the future. Save 1 of each Evo item too!

There are multiple reasons not to evolve anything casually now, including that exclusive community day moves cannot be TMed.
