I finally got a Mewtwo and was going to power it up, but I decided to ask here to see if I should. The Mewtwo is 2228 CP with 10 Attack, 14 Defense, and 14 Stamina. What do you think?

If you think you can get another very soon, and you REALLY aren’t sure, then it doesn’t hurt to wait a bit. If not, then it’ll still make a great addition to your team. Really, any Mewtwo is a good one, but I get your indecision.

Personally, I’ve been sitting on an 80% with 15 attack that I’ve been considering recently… and I have plenty spare rare candy… and stardust…

Yeah, I like how mine has good hp and defense but not the worst attack. since mewtwo has such a high attack should i power it up anyway? probally won't get another soon

Just because it has high attack doesn't make attack IVs completely useless. Breakpoints still exist for Mewtwo.

Though if you're going for Confusion + Shadow Ball then the difference of say, 30 vs 31 damage per Confusion is very minor compared to 7 vs 8 Psycho Cut damage.

Even so, a 10 in all IVs Mewtwo is still one of the best generalists in the game so it's still worth powering at least to level 30.

This is a Mewtwo I’ve caught the very first wave of EX raids. Haven’t caught another since. So while you’re right about trying for a better one, it’s been a while…

I’d wait. I caught a 93%, and have gone to town on it.

Probably, get a better one, that 10 attack is really disappointing.

What is a Mewtwo?

Seriously, it is a wonder and how likely are you to get another one?

For what it's worth, I powered up a worse mewtwo than that. Whether or not you should depends on several factors though imo:

How much stardust/rare candy do you have? If you don't have much of either, you might be better off waiting.

How likely is it for you to get another invite? This is a harder question to answer, but if your raid group is continually getting ex raids, it might be worth waiting for a better one.

How much of a difference will it make for you? Depending on your current goals in the game, you may be better off investing dust/candies elsewhere. If adding a mewtwo to your arsenal of attackers will leave you with a bigger hole somewhere else, you might be better off powering up something else to fill that hole.

Personally, I would take it to level 30 if I were you. Mewtwo is still one of the best generalists in the game even with 10 attack. And if you do get a better one later, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have 2.

I have a lot of stardust but not many candies. #2 not sure yet because I just got my pass but I'm going to raid at the two places in my city that get Mewtwo passes and try and get more. Not sure if I'll be successful or not but I'll see. I feel like I need Mewtwo because I like soloing Machamp and want to solo the psychic raid bosses.

Just power it up to lv30 since the dust n candy needed is not much.
Or power it up until it reaches 3000cp so it looks nicer.
That was what i did with my 2nd mewtwo lol.

I would suggest considering the following two questions before investing any of your dust/candies into this Mewtwo.

1. Do you need a Mewtwo right now for battling gyms/raids? Mewtwo is an exceptionally strong generalist attacker, but it's often outperformed by specialist attackers in raid lineups. So while it's amazing for filling a gap in your battle party, it often won't outperform top tier specialists. Rayquaza can also outperform Mewtwo as a generalist attacker, so there's also that. If you already have solid lineups of various different meta relevant Mons, then you probably don't need to rush on powering up a Mewtwo. If your battle parties have been needing some extra oomph, then Maybe consider it, as Mewtwo will perform well in a lot of scenarios.

2. How is your rare candy stockpile looking? Because Mewtwo will be gulping down plenty of it, if you choose to power it up. If you're someone who raids frequently and has a nice stash saved up, then you can power Mewtwo up without much hassle. If that isn't the case though, then consider holding off. On the chance that you could receive another EX pass and get a higher IV Mewtwo, you may feel regret investing all your candies into this one.

TL;DR: I would hold off for now and see if you get a better one, unless you need one now. Even a lower IV Mewtwo will perform well, but given how resource intensive it is to power one up, I would take the cautious and more patient approach, and wait.

Honestly...I'm sick of this answer...it's not personally against you, but I just can't hear it anymore...“do you really need this at the moment“...wtf...all you need in this game do fine in every scenario is 6 Dragonite at lvl 30. That's something probably every player above lvl 30 has accomplished by now after the Dratini day...also Rayquaza is the better generalist...so since Mewto is not the best at anything, if your argument holds true nobody should power it up and leave it as a trophy...I'm exagerating, but common...people should power up what they feel is good for their lineups. And even though I don't have a Mewto, I'm pretty sure that it is the most effective Ghost-type attacker in the game, but that's just my two cents.

I totally get what you're saying, and I don't take it personally, so no worries there.

To clarify, my stance is that yes, Mewtwo is absolutely worth powering up. It has crazy good stats and its variety of charge moves allows it flexibility in how it's used; something that can't be said of a lot of Mons. But it's arguably the most difficult Mon to acquire resources for. You can't grind EX raids, so you basically need to invest tons of rare candies into it if you want to power it up. So, unless someone wants one right away to fight with, what's the harm in waiting to power up the best one you can get your hands on? That's all I'm suggesting, and I don't see the harm in that.

Also, to your point that all you need are six Dragonites at lvl 30 to do fine in every scenario; if your goal is to do "fine," then I guess so. But not if you want to be the very best, like no one ever was. Relying on a team of six Dragonites for every scenario is not something I'd recommend.
