Does Ditto has any utility?

I loved that wild Pidgey

Novelty in a gym - can sometimes cause someone to overthink how they attack the gym. But not hard to take down, even if it's a 91% one.

It's possible that, if breeding becomes a thing, that certain species that only have one gender might breed with a Ditto. But all of this is wild speculation. Save a few, dump the crummy ones.

That's a nice Ditto! I've gotten a decent #, but no Wonders just yet.

absolutely! I wish I had a ditto like that, you have an instant awesome attacker. I keep an eye out for good situations, the order of defenders is important. If there is a Dragonite or T-Tar or Gyarados or some other strong attacker early, and Blisseys and Snorlax later, go ahead and put him in the lineup, just don't start with him. Just before you defeat the Dragonite with your ice attacker, swap out for ditto. You now have a level 35 high IV Dragonite to sweep the next couple defenders.

You can also use him in legendary raids. Depending on the moveset, you have either a high DPS attacker or a great tank. If Rayquaza has double dragon, for example, you are going to take extra damage but also dish it out. The reverse of course if he has Ancient power, you are now resisting while dishing out less. But no matter what you are fighting with a level 35 Rayquaza.

I’ve never used ditto in a raid, not sure the mechanics in that setting. However, I have turned a high level ditto into a Dragonite (the first defender was demotivated but ditto became a massive one) and swept a gym.

Dittos HP makes rayquza look like a blissey in comparisson. Not sure you will acctually hang in long enough in order to get of a charge move.

I'm not disputing the strategy of using Ditto but I do want to point out that Ancient Power is super effective to Rayquaza. In fact Rayquaza doesn't resist any of its own moves and is taking some SE damage from 5/6 of its own movesets.

I'm not sure about the raid. There was a bug that ditto turn into pidgey when used in raids. I'm not sure if they fixed it or not. Also it keeps it's HP which make him squishy.

I have L38.5 10H/15A/12D Ditto. When it counters, say a Rayquaza, will it keep the same stat or adopt whatever is countering? Tks

Your Ditto will copy the Rayquaza's base attack and defense values, it's typing, and moveset. It's CP will become that of a lvl 38.5 Rayquaza with IVs identical to what your Ditto has. The only thing Ditto won't copy are the hitpoints of what it's facing, so it will end up being a very fragile attacker.

Thanks. By saying my Ditto will end up being very fragile, does it mean it will be more fragile than a "normal" L38.5 Rayquaza with H10/A15/D12 ?

Yes, because Ditto's base HP is only about half of Rayquaza's, which matters much more than the IV.

Pls pardon me to ask one more time. The Ditto HP is 82. When transformed, its CP will definitely be over 3000 but HP will remain at 82. Am I correct?

correct. Roughly you'll get a 50% HP lvl 38,5 Rayquaza.

Ran some numbers in a hurry on pokebattler and seems to be a lost cause imo.

If Rayquaza has double dragon moves you will get a double dragon moveset but you will go down before getting of a single outrage so your DPS will still be crap.

If the Rayquaza boss has anything except double dragon moves you will survive but your DPS will be crap (since you don't have a double dragon moveset) so its no use.
