Gen 3 META defenders ?

Your thoughs on Gardevoir and Salamance as gym defenders?
GoPress ranks Salamance with 5/5 and I can't believe a 1bar-chargemoves defender like it could reach that puntuation.

Gardevoir is a fine defender that can stop Machamp, Dragonite and give Tyranitar some trouble. Salamence with Hydropump can do a number if it is not dodged which is hard to do, and otherwise deals great damage with either quick move thanks to either STAB or coverage

You want Dragon Tail. Fire Fang does fine damage against like Jynx, and does about as much to Gardevoir, but DT does more to anything else, especially another dragon.

How about Metagross as a defender?

Note: Defensive ability does not factor into the species ratings, which are only based on attacking prowess. Blissey and Chansey, which are excellent defenders but useless attackers, get no rating.

Easy to fight Dragonites, and easy to fight Salamence. Surely, just use a dragon it ice mon that everyone has by now.
Gardevoir is trickier to fight.
This is why I haven't bothered catching a single nearby Baldem(?) nearby, because I'm not going to power up a slightly stronger Dragonite again. More useful Pokemon to spend Stardust on.
