EX Raid Invite (finally)

Finally got my first EX raid invite, for a raid I did this morning. I still have to catch it, but assuming that goes well, I'll finally be able to check that entry off the Pokedex and dump all this Rare Candy I've hoarded.

There's still a lot unknown, but it seems like doing raids closer to the time the wave is released helps your chances along.

Congratulations. I got an invite as well, though not at the place I thought.

There's a gym that we've tried to trigger an EX raid at (it's worked well so far) and I did 3-4 T5 raids there. The last one was on sunday and after that I went to a big mall and did some raids there.
Well, the trigger worked, but I didn't get an invite. Instead I got one for one at the mall.
So 3-4 T5 raids at a silver gym didn't work, but a random T5 (or T4) at a bronze one got me the invite.

Very strange, but I guess one invite is better than none.

EDIT: Thought the raid was on sunday, but it's on monday.

The ex raid is not on Monday for you? Our local ex raids are on Monday. Is the mall gym a sponsored one? Because a mall gym is unlikely to be located in a park, it will be a new development if they make more gyms eligible.

You are right, it's on monday. Not sure why I was sure the raid was on sunday. Well, that's great news for me :)

I'm bronze at the gym I got the invite for, so not having a gym medal doesn't seem to prohibitively decrease your chances, as most people have reported. I'm glad that the triggering mechanism works in your area, at least. Being in a huge city with several eligible gyms per cell and lots of spoofers has made getting invites extremely difficult. I'm just glad I got up early this morning and hit this T5 on the way to an appointment.

I'd probably be adjusting my plans to accommodate the raid, but if you have multiple Mewtwos already and a reliable way to get more, then it makes sense to bail.
