Niantic is an expert to make Good thing into Garbage?

So I take a look at some of the secondary pokemon from gen 3, and a few from gen1

I found out that a few are pretty good stat wise, but Niantic decide give it absolute garbage move set to totally wrack it

Aerodactyl Armando both do not have the same type of two move
They could be a pretty good attacker but Niantic decide to wrack it

I guess Niantic really wanna get rid of the second line , force us to focus on at primary one, and make them at raid and make us pay for it lol

Yeah, I think Aerodactyl in particular is a shame. If I'm not mistaken, there was no truly great flying-type attacker with a usable double-flying moveset until Rayquaza, and that's kind of a waste of a Rayquaza! Aerodactyl could have filled this niche nicely but it only got one STAB move, which is the useless Ancient Power :-(

Well, the only current Flying moves for Aero would be Wing Attack and Aerial Ace, so it wouldn‘t be that strong anyways, would it?

'Dactyl could learn Fly in RBY, right? That move isn't in the game for some reason, even though Dig and Surf, for example, are. They're kinda comparable I think?

Aerodactyl can learn Sky Attack by TM in Gen1, and by move tutor in Gen4, Gen5, and now in Gen7. Sky Attack is probably the best flying type charge move in Pokemon Go.

Aerodactyl with Wing Attack/Sky Attack would have been pretty cool. The rock typing would unfortunately neutralize the flying resistance to fighting and grass, and give it a few weakneses, but it would still be a lot more interesting than it is now.

Aerodactyl has also been able to learn Rock Slide by level up and TM since Gen4. Even without a rock fast move (which is certainly something that should be fixed) Aerodactyl with Wing Attack/Rock Slide would have probably been a strong rock attacker.

I think it's more that they just have no clue on how to balance a game like this or it's a very low priority for them. Looking at ice types, they have a very nice balance with half a dozen viable attackers. Fighting has a very good alternative for Machamp in Hariyama, who is both more common and not available through raids. I don't really get the feeling that they're purposedly narrowing down our choices.

Aerodactyl and Armaldo are some of the more glaring mistakes, rock type in particular needs a lot of changes both with Smack Down introduced as a new fast move and more rock types getting a double rock moveset. Looking at the stats, it could easily be like ice, with multiple good attackers.

Agree. They've managed to make salamence worse than dragonite, metagross inferior compared to other pesudo legendaries and give rayquaza moves strongly related to trash birds more fitting for a bird stew. I still have no idea how did they made swampert, dusclops, claydol, registeel or flygon garbage.

This game is becoming a clown fest and this 3rd gen release has gave us nothing but garbage pokemon (Hariyama and Gardevoir aside). Of course you know what this means? This game is garbage.

Garbage including such pokemon as Groudon, the strongest ground type in all generations, Kyogre, the strongest water type in all generations and Rayquaza, the best generalist we've seen yet. :)

Salamence has better DPS than Dragonite according to current sims, hard to say it's worse than Dragonite.
Rayquaza has one of the best movesets in the game in DT/O. AS/AA doesn't matter since flying is irrelevant, but it still kills Machamp as fast as Espeon does.
Swampert is not garbage, it was used in one of the hardest solo challenges anyone has ever completed.
Dusclops, Claydol, Registeel and Flygon get shafted by stat conversion and/or abilities missing, simple answer.

If you think the game is garbage stop playing. It's as simple as that. But if you want to keep talking about it, at least keep your claims somewhere near reality instead of this fantasy land you live in where mediocre movesets make pokemon with amazing stats completely useless. By your logic Mewtwo is useless because it doesn't have good STAB movesets.

Legendaries that are easily accessible (in high-density areas) and unrestricted on attack actually contribute to the problem (making most other species garbage).

RIP Gyarados and Vaporeon. :(

Rare candy (or rather lack of it) saves the nonlegendaries. Only a tiny subset of players will have the resources to power up multiples of legendaries so for the rest of us, Gyarados and other nonlegendary stars still hold value.

I would love to have access to their move allocation meetings, if they even do them. It sure doesn't seem like anyone is spending a lot of time thinking about moves. And if they are, they don't play their own game.

They do. Hanke was walking a tentacool as buddy to get candies. He wants tentacruel.

Who in their right mind would walk a Tentacool? (Soloing Tentacruel is easy if he wants the dex entry.)

I guess it reflects how competent Niantic are.

True, several pokemon have potential to be strong, but Niantic just denies them from being it. Aerodactyl I really feel sorry for, wished he could have some rock moves
