Do Lucky Eggs still have value after level 30?

I have been using lucky eggs and spam evolving the mons that don't have much other purpose in the game to power XP and move up my level. But now that I have reached max level for wild mon catch is there any benefit to trying to speed up XP gains and trainer level?
Many even advise not to waste dust on mon over level 30 so I question if there is any benefit to increasing trainer level beyond level 30. Thoughts?

It is well worth powering up mons over 30, because actual combat power is CP^3. Niantic just cut the CP gain to half so they don't become next to invincible like in some other RP games.

imo, this is not true. However you define "combat power", it scales depending on your definition, from ^(1/2) to ^(3/2) with CPs.
Please explain your view.

Actually at lvl 29 you can already encounter pokemon at lvl 30, so the eggs are kind of useless after that. On events, like the thanksgiving it's a good thing, but otherwise i don't see much use for it.

You can't encounter lvl 30 Pokemons at lvl 29. You can power up them to 30.5 lvl though.

Isn't that really a question you need to decide for yourself? You know what Lucky eggs do and how they work. Whether or not you choose to buy/use them after level 30 depends entirely on what your personal objectives are in the game.

Consider that some players see leveling up as really the only goal after you've completed your pokedex. And frankly, once more and more players reach level 30 those prestige mons you have will either need to be pumped beyond 30 or you'll accept lower spots in gyms.

I don't think the question has a good answer as it's based almost entirely in what you want to get out of the game.

My wife collects pokemon and trainer levels. That's it. She's never used dust for anything. Has no desire to have anything to do with gyms. Walking and catching pokemon is her thing. As such, she'll be happy with lucky eggs indefinitely.

Sounds to me like you have possibly answered your own question regarding whether or not you should spend money on eggs.

I guess my question was directed at players already over level 30 what benefits they get from leveling up more and from what i'm hearing it's mainly just the status of your level as an achievement in itself and the increased CP which sounds like it's more significant than I had believed. I'll probably continue to use the eggs I have until they run out and then not buy new ones after that. Thanks for the feedback!

It's a matter of opinion to power mons past 30. Seems odd not to max your favorites at least if you have the dust personally. Might as well use eggs during mass evolves, in the long run it would make quite a bit of a difference.

Even being past 30 I look forward to leveling up so I can power up a select few +40cp or so. It adds up.

Heh, and here I am saving to buy the lucky egg 25 pack (at level 29 now). Maybe I'll hit 30 before and can use the 3 freebies first...

That said, like others have mentioned, it depends a lot on how you play, your goals, if you do gyms, etc...

In my area, the super strong gyms are all at 2700-2800+ CP so all the mons there are clearly powered up well over level 30. With the double exp event, I think there are tons of people now in my area 30+ so most will power mons well over 30 I think.

On Thanksgiving holiday, we visited another area and players seem more around lvl 20-22 so yeah, it may seem pointless, but I think for metro cities, more and more people will continue to level higher and higher which translates to higher and higher CP mons so if you want to defend gyms (get dust/coins), you really have no choice BUT to power up well past 30...

All I need now are higher IV mons myself so I can power something up, but sadly, no decent Vaps/Rhydons or Snorlaxes currently...

I'm sitting on near 650k dust now.

Would love it if Blissey is projected to hit 3219 so I'd actually have something to power up finally (hatched 2).

So many different facets of the game are personal, so hard to give a blanket answer. My 2 cents based on how I like to play the game.

I like collecting and breeding pokemons - good movesets, good IVs, good type coverage. For me, I like building them up to their full potential (up to Level 40) but I have to constantly make candy choices about which I power up vs. keep evolving new ones to get better IV / moveset. And this is a fun part of the game, having limited resources.

I see the end game for me as a complete pokedex with a kick-ass army of Level 40 attackers and defenders, all with top IVs and the best movesets.

Surprisingly enough, I do battle gyms but I don't find that part of the game all that exciting. I really just enjoy collecting and building top pokemons.

And to answer your question re: Lucky Eggs, I do still use them (I am Level 35) because I am a bit impatient... :-)

They are always useful still after 30. Leveling allows you to power up pokemon higher. It just isnt as awesome as leveling before 30. Also if you ever do want to gain a level this decade you will need lucky eggs. The exp needed goes up insanely after 30.

They do... They just aren't nearly as good. Level 33 here going to level 34. Will take 1 million XP. Before level 30, a good mass evolve would get you maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of the way to the next level. Now? Not so much. Each level only gets you about 40 more CP per Mon, and will probably take several weeks to do. Now 40 CP can make a ton of difference in defenders, but not so much in attackers. Honestly, it becomes more important to find a really good IV defender than to level up, because the difference between a perfect Vape and a decent Vape might be the same as leveling up twice. What I've been doing is just evolving most "junk" mons as soon as I have enough candy, except pidgey. Pidgey candy I still keep to do the occasional mass evolve. Just how I do it. So yeah. Basically you can spend 80 coins for 35k XP (the other 35 you would get evolving anyway) which is equivalent to less than 1/10 of the way to the next level, or pay 150 coins for the chance to get three significantly better Mons plus some stardust and candy.
