Mewtwo Question

Hey guys.

Caught my first Mewtwo today! :)

82% with 12ATK. I wanted to ask how it compares to my current best generalist - 15 ATK Dragonite. Will the Mewtwo do significantly more damage or should I wait for one with a higher ATK? Thanks for the input.

263+15=278*0.79030001=219.70

300+12=312*0.79030001=246.57

This comparison is useless without taking moves into account.

Meh, moves can be TMed, IVs cannot.

Good point, I think I missed entirely what you were saying in the post I replied to: the calculations need to take into consideration the available moves.

The difference in damage between your M2 and one with 15 atk is less than 1%. It has slightly higher neutral dps than a dragonite, but dragonite is bulkier with useful resistances against many targets.

Your mewtwo will have a higher attack, but your dragonite will be the better generalist for gyms.

If people in your area put a good mix of types in gyms, then Dragonite might be more versatile. If however gyms are--like those near me--stuffed with fat normal types, then Mewtwo with Confusion/Focus Blast can exploit the fighting weakness.

I often will use Mewtwo C/F against full motivation gyms since it is not weak to psychic or fairy. Then I will switch to Machamp against weaker gyms because Dynamic Punch has more flexible energy costs.

I just got my first mewtwo too. 84% with 13 attack. Maxed it immediately and have no regrets. If you get a better one later you can max that too in time. There really is not that much of a difference. A 10/10/10 mewtwo has 98.4% as much attack as one with 15 attack ivs.

I also caught my first with 82.2 and 12 Attack yesterday. I was undecided about powering up until I read this thread (son caught a 93.3). Decided to go for it and just soloed a Machamp raid for the first time so the game is already more fun.

Don't compare an apple with an orange. Why not compare it to Alakazam instead? A 12 atk mewtwo has more attack than a 15 atk alakazam of the same level.
