New wave of gen 3 Pokemon to be released later today!

https://pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/en/post/hoenn-pokemon-012318/

Trainers,

Starting later today, 23 additional Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will begin appearing in Pokémon GO for the very first time.

Prepare! Aggron is leading the charge, sadly i don`t think Salamance or Metagross are in this batch.

Yay, new Pokemon! What's interesting is the image provided with the announcement indicates 15 Pokemon (including pre-evolved forms and not including Groudon who's all "bye, Felicia"). I'll be curious to see what the other 8 Pokemon are.

the common theme is rock and ground, so I guess we can also expect the cardily, armaldo and claydol families. still 2 mystery pokemon.

Not torkoal and nosepass? Maybe Torkoal in tier 2 raids and nosepass as pest pokemon?

forgot about nosepass. you are probably right about torkoal as he is the only fire type left in gen 3.

Hopefully offsets the overabundance of weather boosted Geodude and Rhyhorn I see.

You see Geodudes and Rhyhorns, I see freaking Pidgey, Rattata, Jigglypuff and Zigzagoon everywhere I go. I am not very fond of Partly Cloudy weather.

Right now I am completely pissed at both myself and a freaking pidgey. It ate 90% of my dust because somehow instead of transferring the damn thing, the level up was activated. Freaking roast chicken! I wish I didn't click the Ok by instinct and actually read the damn thing.
I feel lucky to see one Eevee when the weather boost happens.

Unfortunately, Aggron and Armaldo lack Rock-type quick moves. How would Aggron compare to Scizor and Metagross as a Steel-type attacker?

Think of it as a Steelix but with attack more like a Lugia in exchange for a tiny bit less bulk.

Think of it as an offense-oriented counterpart to Steelix.

- Steelix has slightly higher bulk, no double weaknesses, better coverage with a Dark Multi-bar and non-steel STAB Charged move, and lower max CP for staying power.

- Aggron has much higher attack, access to Stone Edge, and more offensively-oriented typing. Sure it's 4x weak to both ground and fighting, but this is in exchange for 4x resistance to Normal and Flying, as well as the highest resistance to Poison that one could ask for. It also loses its weakness to Fire.

Aggron should have enough attack to take out a maxed Blissey, though it would be very slow, it could be a good option for someone who is short of potions, as it resists all movesets and double-resists its STAB moves.

Pokebattler puts its Potion-Efficiency near Lugia's, and though Aggron may require some Charged Move dodging against Dazzling Gleam to survive, it is by far the best against Pound and/or Hyper Beam movesets.

Aggron has also very high TDO against Rayquaza, it resists all of Rayquazas moves and with DT/SE is has a good moveset for countering Rayquaza.
