Dewgong vs. Lapras

I have a Seel, just hatched, but I don't have a lapras yet, both 3 I haven't encountered in the wild, should I go with this seel to dewgong or catch another lapras?

Lapras if you can but dewgongs are still good. You make it sound like you only have 1 seel xD

Do you have any Shellders? Cloister is better than Dewgong following the CP changes. Jynx with FB/Ice Punch is another option. She now has a stronger ice attack than anyone else.

Yes, 2 hatched, and eventually double candies.

Obviously lapras in the long run, but in the short run, a 1.5k Dewgong for example, will do as as well as a 1.5k Lapras.

However, the biggest gripe with Dewgong is its poor moveset possibilities when you evolve Seel. With a Lapras, the worst moveset (Ice Shard, Dragon Pulse) still wrecks Dragonites. You can't wreck dragonites with icy wind or aqua jet I'm afraid.

And as mentioned above, a frost breath Jynx or a Cloyster can do better than Dewgong as well.
