can you leave a mewtwo raid and help a second group?

hi finally got my ex pass for next week.
we can identify 13 pass holders
4 yellow
4 blue
5 red

13 is a large group but the groups are to small to split into colors safely (and there are a number of fairly weak accounts)

so my question is can you help the first group until it is an obvious win then exit then join a second raid group to help/complete the raid.

also what happens to the damage of the helpers? will it increase the chance of the 'remainers' getting damage balls?

hoping that enough randoms show up on day to make an easy color split but just planning for worst case scenario.

other wise the best i can think of is give the gym to one color and split that colors players to make a group of 6 and a group of 7 sacrificing their team damage bonus for gym control bonus balls so everyone should get about 10 balls.

I think that people have told me that with the damage staying with you when you faint out and come back likely means that the damage stays even if you exit all the alway out BUT I have never proved this. I would test the assist and then leave strategy with a L3 duo or L4 foursome raid to determine conclusively if the damage done by those who leave disappears or not.

Note that we tried this strategy week 3? of EX but someone from the leaving team didn’t actually leave. It was a kind gesture to help the minor team get a better shot and I commend you for your thoughtfulness.

Yeah, I'd expect the trick with leaving no longer works.

To answer your question, Yes.
You can help the first group and back out all the way before they kill the Mewtwo to join your second/main group to complete your raid. I have had 6 ex raids so far, and each raid when certain teams don't have enough members (usually yellow.. sorry no offense), we join their private group to help them out and back out before Mewtwo goes down.
As for the damage bonus, i have not confirmed how many balls the other team receives since i can't see the completed raid screen on my part after i leave their raid to join mine.. but i will def check next time. Hopefully this helps.

Have you done this since they fixed it so that personal damage contribution doesn't reset? I'd expect whatever change was made for that would also cause team damage contribution not to reset.

Thanks guys. Last time the known numbers were 24 and 36 showed up on the day so hopefully more pipe up and we can keep it simple but better to think ahead.
