Which Groudon to Max?

I'm going to max out a Groudon to use against Kyogre.

I have a perfect 15/15/15 Groudon at level 20, and a 98% 14/15/15 Groudon at level 25.

I have plenty of stardust, but generally prefer to be frugal with it.

Which Groudon should I max out?

Depends on a lot. I'd consider taking both to level 31 for similar resources to maxing out one. At level 31, you reach the fast attack breakpoint for mud (assuming your 98% is 14stamina). You gain little after that breakpoint. Obviously, you'd want both to have solar beam.

After Kyrogre, you would then charge TM one of them to earthquake and can max them out as you get the resources to spare. An Eq Groudon and a Beam Groudon are functionally two different Pokémon and you may want both. It is unlikely any ground type every tops Eq Groudon. Solar Beam Groudon is arguably the top grass attacker we have. Having one of each is worthwhile.

Are u serious?!

Go for 100% one if max out. I did for my perfect groudon.

If you have to leave one behind for now it must be the %100. Take the %98 to L32. The %100 certainly deserves dust and maxing in time. There is just something satisfying about having a big fat %100 of any sort.

1. You don't use Groudon against Kyogre, just a bad decision.
2. Stop humble bragging, I have a hundo as well and you're not that special.
3. We know a perfect is 15/15/15, that's the only possible spread. You're 98 has 14 attack and is useless.

1. You do use Groudon against Kyogre, just a good decision. If it has Solar Beam it's a great choice against any moveset. It survives a Blizzard, is king against Thunder, and anything dies to Hydro Pump anyway.
2. I agree with you, but then again everyone humble brags now and then (as did you with your statement)
3. 14/15/15 is far from useless. That 1 attack less might cost him 1 dps against some raid bosses, but it is still a great Groudon.

Not if you want to do as much damage as possible and get bonus throws/items. Raikou is a far better option. Clearly you don't have every option, which is fine, but don't mislead with incorrect information. In NYC the battle is nearly over before you even get to use 2 solar beams with a lobby of 20.....

My powered Zapdos is 14A/15D/15S, but according to pokebattler performs exactly the same as my 15A/15D/11S Zapdos (since I assume no quick or charge move breakpoints are being hit). I would not call it "useless"

Complaining about humble bragging while being overly zealous about 15 atk IV.

Groudon has incredibly high base attack. A difference of 1 attack IV doesn't make that much of a difference.

15 Atk IV hits the only Mud Shot breakpoint against Kyogre at level 31, while 14 hits that breakpoint at level 31.5. If you are in sunny weather, then that breakpoint for is at level 21.5 for both 14 and 15 IV.

If you are maxing it to 40, then 15 will deal 136 damage with Solar Beam, while 14 will deal 135 damage. In sun, it is 163 vs 162.
