...and a Pikachu in a Santa hat. (Christmas event wishful thinking)

Considering the lame announcement yesterday and it being 12 days before Christmas, I was thinking how cool it would be if Niantic had actually launched a surprise 12 Days of Christmas event. Pikachu/Santa hat would be partridge in pear tree. For the next 11 days a progressively larger number of items would be released. Therefore, today should be the release of two special birds (representing 2 turtle doves).

Any of you out there finding the two special birds I'm dreaming about?

Oh well; we can only hope that a Holiday event is yet to come that will make us forget about the 12/12 let down. :) Happy hunting!

I don't honestly understand why so many people are pissed off at yesterday's announcement.

They promised us new mons, they gave us new mons, and they are the first ones of Gen 2! Were you guys really expecting they'd just drop the whole of Gen 2 upon us out of nowhere? With 100 new mons spawning all over the place and the game becoming stale again in about two weeks? I think releasing it little by little is the logical way of handling things. I'm sure we'll have a lot more new introductions, announcements and special events by Christmas. Just be patient, people.

The 12 days of Christmas thing is actually a great idea though! Wish they'd have thought about that, although I don't think that's very likely :)

Quick response: Niantic is being the most lame company trying to get money releasing gen2 mons only from eggs after creating hype saying more mons and in game events are coming on 12/12 like it was the best update we could dream about ;).

If some people can't see that it's ok, be happy and let them take your money, today I have seen a vid on youtube from a guy that needed 30+ tries with 2 accounts to get a cleffa from a 2k egg, calculate how many incubators and money is that for a useless mon

NOTE: better we don't talk about the amazing Pikachu with hat event, less than 24 hours and I only have 12 of them without even going to find them or playing a lot...

Um, these are baby pokemon dude. They're supposed to only come from eggs (breeding in the original games) in the first place. And it only makes sense to release them first, because they're linked to Gen 1. Plus they never said this was the biggest update ever, the hype clickbait youtubers did.

I don't get your point about the lots of incubators and money though... 30 tries to get a Cleffa doesn't even sound that bad, of course Niantic didn't make them suddenly the most common hatches ever. But why would you waste money on incubators to try and get them? They'll always be in the game from now on, you'll eventually hatch them and be happy when you finally do. Again, you want everything and you want it now, just to then complain that the game is getting stale and there's nothing to do.

Niantic is usually dumb as hell but they're handling it decently this time, just have a little patience, enjoy what you have and cut them some slack.

I think if they had included the gen2 pokemon that evolve from gen1 pokemon people would have felt a lot less bitter about this. More than the babies only being available in eggs, I think a big unspoken issue is they are also pretty much unusable for gyms. Where as several of the gen2 evolutions are anticipated not just because they are new pokemon but also because they are hopefully going to be good gym contenders.

Totally agree with that, if they had give us some more I would be happy, this is not ENOUGH, not for me at least, glad for the rest of the people if they think this update is good, I expected more from a company that is making milions per day...

That's arguable, yeah. But there are some pretty meta-defining mons that evolve from Gen 1 - Scizor, Steelix, Kingdra - so I understand them not wanting to release all of that on day one. I'm still confident they'll be added soon.

On the original games you breed mons by getting the ONE you want with a male and a female from the same species, not just a random thing, and 30 tries from two accounts are 60 tries ;). Of course they are not going to make them common, they want people to spend the money.

And with players that get happy with any stupid thing they just release and say thank you Niantic you are the best, this is amazing, wow a pikachu with a hat...there is no point for them to just work harder and improve the game (bad tracker, bad gym system, bad egg distribution, game still crashes a lot, and we can keep going...)

Tell me in what way all those issues that you listed there, which I acknowledge and mostly agree with (and I'm the first in line to complain about the new useless tracker), can be improved through people like you whining about a totally unrelated thing. Seems to me like you're just jumping on the hate-Niantic bandwagon regardless of the actual topic.

And yet again, you don't have to spend money to hatch eggs, and you'll eventually get your baby mons. Yeah, in the original games breeding was more manual, but (sadly) a lot of things in Go were simplified and randomized because it's a mobile game and the targeted public is different.

So it makes sense to introduce baby mons in normal eggs and let people try with them a little bit. What was the alternative that would have made you happy, a "Lay egg" option on your Pikachu which gives you a free Pichu after one hard km of walking? I guarantee you that one month from now we'll all be disappointed when we see another useless Smoochum or Cleffa come out of our precious egg, think about this.

The point is I won't probably get those baby mons without spending money, do you know that a lot of people that actively plays since day 1 and after six months still don't has a Lapras ,Snorlax or Chansey or any other mon?

Do you know that they just put all the babies into the egg pool without removing their adults versions making it even harder to get them? I hate Niantic yes, and I know that complain here won't change anything, but that does not make a point about saying that I am wrong ;).

Anything that is being said on this forum won't change anything, why even post then? We are just talking and sharing our opinions, nothing more.

NOTE: I have spend 50€ on the game and only got one Lapras and one Snorlax from more than 600 eggs hatched, never hatch an Onix (needed for Steelix) or a Dratini.

Yeah man, sorry if I sounded rude haha I agree that we're here just to share opinions and that's why I'm just trying to be honest about mine :)

I have made points proving how, imo, you are indeed wrong in the past few comments including the one you last replied to! About your first point, I can say that I actively play from day 1 (level 30) and after six months I still haven't actually hatched a Chansey haha - plus I obviously haven't spent money on incubators and today, with the first egg that I had picked up since the update, I hatched an Igglybuff. Proof below. That kinda goes against your whole argument lol

Hope you still see this comment because it's being a fun debate, wish Gamepress added reply notifications.

Unknown to most people, the 12 Days of Christmas actually starts on Christmas Day and ends on January 5th.

Saw a sort of this idea last week also on reddit. Would be awesome and instead of gen 2 i expected an event like this a bit.
I mean, 12/12 it's 12 days before christmas. Or maybe it's gonna be Mew year's eve :-)

I was pretty disappointed too. But in anticipation of the event I had gone out with my friend and her niece to hang out, eat, and catch Pokémon while doing so. Seeing them thrilled about pikachus with Santa hats and hatching an iggly made me realize that it's not all that bad

I'm genuinely not unhappy with the Christmas event. It's only been a couple of weeks since the big Thanksgiving event (which being a very regional rather than international event surprised me).

We know they'll be releasing more Pokes over the next few months, and personally I'm not bored with the existing lot - there are plenty I want to power up further.

A big spring release is likely, when more people are out and about (and they're not up against Mario coming to iphones).
