rayquaza nerfed to hard?

so they seem to nerf anything that will reach above 4k with a flat 9% and in the case of mewtwo, groudon and kyogre this still leaves them significantly stronger then their nearest non legendary.

now admittedly rayquaza has pseudo legendaries as it's nearest competition but was 9% to much for something that didn't have overwhelming stats to start with? certainly it is interesting that in pokebattler dragonite is better then rayquaza as a counter in both time to win and power by a significant margin.

The flip side is with dratini going onto the endangered list a god dragonite will be harder to acquire for new players then a good rayquaza so which, look aside, is thee real legendary.

level 30 extreme weather no dodge. ray ray time to win must swap over a bit after level 30 but overall still favors dragonite

I'm inclined to disagree about how good Rayquaza without nerf would've been. Even nerfed it's going to become the go-to generalist when its released due to easy availability for many people and better DPS than Dragonite which is more relevant than the slight bulk downgrade. Having it at pre-nerf stats with a Mewtwo-level attack stat and bulkier than Dragonite would have been fairly ridiculous.

No one is mentioning that Rayquaza has the possibility of a double flying moveset. That would make it the first serious mon with double fly with STAB. Kind of a game changer, since he can take out fight and grass, and they don't have counter moves (well, unless someone saved their Machamp with SE).

That's what excites me about Rayquaza - I've already got a good flying/dragon attacker with Dragon Tail and Outrage - he's called Dragonite.

The main difference between Rayquaza and Dragonite will be that Dragonites will be a badge of honor for those of us who ground out buddy km with Dratinis, worked eggs and candy, to get these powerful mon, instead of going on a quick raid or two and then converting rare candy to power them up. It's like the difference of drafting a baseball player, training them up in the farm system and having them become a star vs. hiring a high priced free agent.

kind of agree with this. being able to solo t3's for a while was a mark of achievement but with whether boosted wild catches it's a lot less so then it was. while my dragonites are a mark of real time and effort spent.
