Alakazam power up or not ?
Hi guys,
I've found in the wild Alakazam (PC+Psychic) CP 1441, HP 70, IV 44.4% (HP 11, ATK 1, DEF 8)
I have 125 candy and 3 Abras:
1. CP 738, HP 42, IV 71.1% lvl 24 (HP 15, ATK 2, DEF 15)
2. CP 627, HP 38, IV 80% lvl 20 (HP 14, ATK 11, DEF 11)
3. CP 617, HP 35, IV 80% lvl 20 (HP 9, ATK 15, DEF 12)
Kadabra
4. CP 1025, HP 54, IV 82.2% lvl 20 (HP 12, ATK 11, DEF 14)
Which one should I evolve or should I power up Alakazam with perfect moveset for attacking?
Thanks in advance.

well the only way you will find that out is if you evolve. get the moveset you want (final form) + the right ivs and then you will know if its worth powering up.
if i were you i would hold off until i got more candy anyways.
idk what your situation is, but i have a spot where i can easily get abras plus i do alot of walking with alakazam.
Does anyone know enough details of how the underlying mechanics work to outline the differences in Alakazam:
* HP at Level 30
* CP at Level 30
Between your Alakazam, Abra #2 and Kadabra #4?
Maybe use Pokegenie or something like that to see the nuances (you can simulate evoluations and power ups). Since Alakazam is purely an attacker (HP is too low to be a userful defender), you'll want to maximize his CP and his HP and have the HP and Attack IVs be as high as possible.
My intuition tells me that the difference will be minimal and hence you're better off powering up your Alakazam with perfect moveset vs. risking getting a bad moveset. But would be good to see hard numbers to back my intuition.
There's actually a tool on this website for that:
https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/cpcalc#/
Alakazam will end up with 2274 CP and 88 HP at level 30. Getting him there will cost 80000 Stardust and 70 Candy.
Kadabra will end up with 2405 CP and 89 HP at level 30. Getting him there will cost 75000 Stardust and 166 Candy.
Not going to do the Abras because they are worse options than the Kadabra.
Thanks for doing the work (and for the link)!
Based on this, I personally would power up Alakazam to 30 if you already have the candy. Enjoy him as an attacker and keep harvesting Abras until you are able to evolve another one. The HP difference is nil and the CP difference doesn't matter that much since you are using him as an attacker.
Do not go with #3.
IVs will basically give your pokemon a flat amount of stats. A high IV in a stat where your pokemon is lacking will help it more than a high IV in a stat where your pokemon is already incredibly strong.
For Alakazam in particular, he has a base attack of 271. With IVs it can be as high as 286... which is only a 5.5% increase. His base stamina is 110, with a max of 125 with IVs. That's an increase of 13.6%.
