What is the better Alakazam Fast Move? Is it Confusion or Psycho Cut? I have PC trying to figure out if it's worth FTMing

Thanks

Confusion is slow but hits like a truck.
PC feeds your charge bar very fast, and is good for dodging.

They both have their strengths and it is for you to decide which suits you and your play style better.

Thanks for your answer - I use Alakazam primarily for Machamp solos, where my objective is to get off two FS's before I get knocked out. It seems given that, if I can do that with Confusion, than it is better (though maybe I can see if I can get off 3 FS's using Psycho Cut?)

With PC, you would need an extra FS just to do comparable damage to what you would do with confusion.

For Machamp raids (and Gengar radis), confusion is superior in almost every conceivable scenario.

Having higher consistency is better if time is low on the raid or you're low on consumables.

One with PC/FS can reliably get off 2 charge moves off before fainting while one with Confusion might not get off a single one if you're unlucky.

A simulation shows the average result from a large sample size of randomised results, not worst case scenario which is what you should plan around when you don't have time to do the raid 1000 times.

There is no scenario where a PC Zam can get off two charge moves but a confusion Zam can't get off one in the same scenario.

If you want to come up with some extremely remote scenario where a PC Zam will work better in the sixth slot, if you happen to only have time to do the raid once, well then I suppose such a scenario might exist. That doesn't change the fact that confusion is just flat-out better for Machamp raids.

I'm talking about missing dodges. With PC it's basically impossible to miss a dodge unless you intentionally do so since it's duration is shorter than the dodge window, while Confusion's duration is longer than the damage delay.

If you consider every Pokemon has a range of damage that it can deal before fainting, PC has a higher floor because it's more or less guaranteed to dodge every charge move even with poor timing. Only your charge move can cause you to miss a dodge and even then it's still doable.

With Confusion there's more things that can go wrong because every single quick move usage can be the cause for a missed dodge.

I'm not bothered about doing the raid 5 seconds quicker, I'd rather be able to do it on the first try every time.

The opinions on this question differ alot on this site. I prefer PC because Alakazam is pretty frail, and i am able to dodge more but cycle dps wise C is better. Than again if I ever get a Mewtwo it will defenitly get C because it is less frail.

Do you have more Alakazams? One with C? If so try that one out before using a precious TM and see which move makes you happier. I did the exact same and liked PC much more.

Goodluck!

You'd think right....sadly a mewtwo with confusion is useless - 2223 mewtwo died fighting 1600 cp guys when I had C ...he is a sad joke

That was a 2223 mewtwo C HB ( worst moves but what he was caught with) vs a 1750 haryama with C/DP ... The hary was able to get off 2 dps before he was killed and that did mew2 in....it was a sad day for mew2 lol

Well, yeah, a level 20 Mewtwo isn't that strong. A powered up confusion Mewtwo is the hardest-hitting pokemon in the game.

I partially disagree for Mewtwo. I have a PC/FB Mewtwo, and I must say I prefer PC. My experience with C/SoB Eggy tells me that I need the quickness of PC to dodge Blissey's DG.

I prefer PC because I inevitably get caught by charge moves in raids using Confusion. Glass cannons like Zam can't afford that.

Confusion for raids.

PC for gyms, if you dodge quick moves.

Either for gyms if you only dodge charge moves; PC is easier to use, C gets the job done faster.

edit: Another case where PC is better is if it is paired with a non-psychic charge move, and you are using it against targets resistant to psychic but weak to the charge move. For example, if you are using a shadow ball Alakazam against an Alakazam raid boss, the energy gain from PC will be worth more than the extra damage from confusion.

As I said, "The opinions on this question differ alot on this site.", this is the 15th reaction ;).
