Wanna Pretend Trading Exists?

How would it work?
Would we need something like an evolution item to make each trade?
Would IVs matter or be part of it?
Would there be worries of glitches where people lose tgeir mons after clicking trade?
I would love trading because I have held on to extras of everything.

I think it will work like fantasy football trading:

Some people will take advantage of people that know a lot less. Or people that are desperate and willing to pay real world money.

Some people will constantly talk about trading, but the trade they want will be a maxed dragonite for their mid range Delibird, because it was a limited spawn. In other words, a steal for them, and not a trade.

Most trades will be gifts from advanced players to their friends.

And very, very rarely, more rare than a perfect shiny, you'll find someone who actually wants to negotiate fair value.

And can you imagine the "Should I make this trade" posts? Success in trading might even become the new meta.

Most trades will be players taking all the good stuff from their second account (good stuff being gained with a free daily invite).

I would love trading I mean to completely not have it is what killed this game. You can't have a game based on collecting and not be able to trade them. I've collected extras on all legendarys for my brother who was in warzone during that time and couldn't participate in them and will gift them to him when it's available.

The fun of the game is based on going out and encountering your collectables. If trading would not be limited in any way, this aspect could become unnecessary as players can quickly acquire anything they want from spoofers and bot accounts.

Could make number of trades per day / week based on the level of the trainer, could also make the trade cost Pokecoins or stardust which would somewhat limit people trading things over from multiple accounts to their main.

I don't think exact IVs would be displayed but you could appraise their Pokemon and see the stats and power up costs as if it were in your storage.

If there's a way to post trades it's going to be a cesspit of people asking for offers on worthless crap they think is valuable (e.g. hat Pikachus, regionals, 0 IVs) and lowballing on perfect IV Pokemon

Value is subjective. Most of the people here value mon that are good at taking down gyms, or winning in raids. But some people might want to just collect, so Shuckle or Corsola will be legitimately worth more TO THEM than Dragonite or Tyranitar. So it's difficult to appraise value.

Further, I know of a lot of parents who play with their kids. No reason to stop mom from trading her gyarados to junior for a pidgey - if she wants to, let her. Maybe she's using favorable trades as a reward, and that's her prerogative.

Finally, if someone trades the best mon from their alt accounts to their main account, well, they are violating the TOS, and that's on them, and on Niantic to figure out a way to catch them.

I trade you my Kips of Mud, you give me your Venusaur. Trade done.

Possible bugs: cloning pokemon.

I know of several people in my area who use multiple accounts, (some with 20+) so if something good spawned, they could catch it with those 20+ accounts and then trade them over to their main account. Trading would result in multi-accounters gaining a choke-hold on pokemon go trading and economy. It would also allow spoofers to gain advantages by spoofing to get region exclusives, then trade them over to an honest account and then trade with those. If trading doesn't need to be face to face then it would be even worse. Trading was a good part of the original games, but it has too many flaws and would give people who cheat a huge advantage over those who don't.

*If trading doesn't need to be face to face*

People will just trade accounts...and then log in locally to be 'face-to-face'.
I am not sure how this 'face-to-face' is supposed to stop anything nefarious from happening. It seems to get mentioned as if this is the be all and end all of safe guarding trading.

And there's nothing preventing a spoofer from changing their location for a trade, just like they do for raids or rare catches. Not sure this will make a big difference. Personally, I would only trade face to face with people I know.

I think Niantic can program it so that if you and a friend both catch the same exact pokemon, you can't trade it with them for something else because you already have that exact pokemon. A unique identifier would be added to each spawn. Of course, the sad part is if your friend is below 30 and you are over 30 then your catches would actually be different yet you couldn't trade them. So IF Niantic does care about this issue of someone catching the same rare pokemon 20 times, they could easily block it.

If someone has 10 accounts and trades from them....who cares...they are all their mons already

Yeah if anything I feel like them having multiple accounts (and presumably multiple devices) at raids is more advantageous than transferring all of their mons to one account

And when/If PvP is released I feel like Niantic will limit teams to 1 species/team

It could possibly provide the player with more trading fodder, but as somebody with only one account I would gladly take the ability to trade even if I knew people would abuse it to increase their collections
