We have about 11 more days of groudon

He has always been my fave legendary and one of my fav pokemon of all time with his design and power in the main series. However i was having immense difficulty catching a good one in pokemon go till today with this beast. Tm'ed him to ms/eq. Before this my best groudon was 2886. I catch at least 8or9 out of 10 groudons i see but every groudon above 2886 ran away from curved grb excellent/great throws! Honestly beggars belief, i had 2887 run, 2888, 3 2890s, one 2316. The 2316 was yesterday and when he fled after 6 excellents and 1 great throw i critical captured a 2267 groudon at the next raid -.- . Rng... haha! Well happy to finally get a good one just before kyogre comes. Any of you guys having groudon troubles or have you guys all managed to get high iv specimens?

Funny I caught an identical Groudon a couple of days ago same moveset and CP. Is yours also 15atk/14def/15hp ?

Yeap! Exactly the same haha. But i have so many tms from all that raiding like 26 of each so i managed to get ms/solarbeam really hoping he gets precipice blades n starts to really smash stuff as a generalist too!

I can spare the TM`s too no prob, but even with a 98% I still plan to hold out until the day it departs to power it up maybe maybe a 100% shows up? hehe I only want to power up 1 of each legendary for now.

Ahhh that explains! Well for me i want one ground groudon and one w ms/solar cos of kyogre:) and i highly doubt with my luck I'd find a 100%. Fact is i got lucky with the groudon today with only 7 balls... earlier i had 7 str8 excellent grb curved throws and a 2297cp fled?. If this happened to the 2323 I'd have exploded...

Groudon is by far the worst scoring legendary for me for the amount of attempts I've had and the much enhanced throwing skill I've acquired since the legendary birds era (oh god, some of my first articuno throws were terrible)

My best is a 15/12/14 (91%) right now, non weather boosted. That's a pretty good score for any book but I've not even encountered a higher one, let alone capture one. My best Ho-Oh is a 91 as well but it was in a shorter time frame and to be honest, who really wants a ho-oh? lol

We have to suffer kyogre next. Same 2% base catch raid oh god.... and yeah ho oh has such bad moves. It is a niche pokemon that isn't worth the dust i feel

Don't forget the fact that Kyogre will be the hardest raid we've seen since Lugia, maybe ever. Default raid group size will probably go to 10+ just to be safe.

I'm pleased with mine, IVs not really high like that one, but I have 5 that are boosted. Partly cloudy today, so holding back on raiding today. Tomorrow will be more convenient for me to raid anyway.

Haha i have this one and i kept 2886, 2881 and 2 2880s. Yeah keep at it and eventually the rng will be in your favour. Look at all that groudon candy i got from transferring rotten iv groudons lol

Unless I get something amazing in the next week, I'll be powering up a level 25 Groudon with 15a/12d/15s (93%).

My next best IV is 14a/15d/13s (93%)... which oddly enough I have caught at both level 20 and level 25.

I am surprised I have yet to see a question about powering up a level 20 vs 25 raid catch.

Tbh before i got this one i would have been happy enough with the 15 atk 93% u have. Thats mainly cos any groudon i met abovr 2886 cp strangely breaks out of my superb throws and flees -.- . Both your groudons are great!

I got the exact 2323 too! Powered up to 3892 now!
My Groudon catch rate is 36/46 by now! A 2320 run away though.

I haven’t caught a Groudon yet and likely never will. I have at least 6 Rhydons at level 30 and 2 of those are close to maxed with double ground. Pretty much been in hibernation mode since the birds. I would like to get a few Kyroges soon if the weather here gets out of the teens

I'm 15 out of 20. Every one that's run has been over 2300. Except the last one, which was exactly 2300 (and STILL under 90% IV). :/

RNG is so fcked up. I lost one and only %100 iv legendary(raikou) after catching 22 in a row. I m still salty btw.
Also had 22/24 or something on groudon. Then i lost 5 in a row. I m talkin about mininum 11 balls ( all ex throws. )

I agree with you man. Today i had 7 balls to catch groudon and i messed up the first throw timing cos i didnt start the toss far enough into his attack animation. 6 balls left. I caught him when i had 2 or 3 balls left thankfully. With groudon u gotta GRB every throw i feel haha. Even then he can escape. The 2316 ran away with 11 balls 8 excellent 3 great. Go figure... we take our luck where we can get it i guess

Proud iwner of this one, maxed in first week of his appearance, 15-10-15(89 iv).

Part of every groudon raid and gym tear down from then.
I have a 93 one cought seberal days after (but not necessary better, it lacks on stamina IV) and missed a 98 iv one the day after I maxed the above one :).
I will most probably max another one for kyogre, worst case the 93 iv one. I had second thougts but kyogre loosing dragon tail make me decide Groudon will be the one with 2 maxed ones. Raikou will also get 2 power up but one only at 30 or so.

You are ready for kyogre mah man! Haha. I just need to do my 91 % raikou now he needs a couple more power ups and I'm done for kyogre too! Lucky he lost DT so my dragonite army can take on 2/3 of kyogre raids haha

I am 17 for 18 on catch attempts. Idk why, mostly gold berries and great curves. I do usually raid with a mystic team on mystic gyms so I usually get 14 balls.

I also lucked out and got this guy (100%) about a week ago. I will max him when he stops spawning in raids.

I've had good luck catching Groudon. 17/20 total, including 3 at 96%, 3 at 93% and 2 at 91%. Unfortunately, although I've caught 3/4 weather boosted, they've only been 69%, 71% and 80%
