What do do with your another 100% iv Pokemon?

While I was quite disappointed about the news on Xmas Pokemon Go event, I'm thinking to cheer up myself by some power ups.

I'm really lucky that I got my second 100% iv gyarados of level 20 with hydropump. I've maxed out my first perfect gyarados to level 35.5. Should I do the same to the 2nd one? Or save dust for Gen 2?

What will you do in such situation? Thanks.

Dude two perfect attacking Gyarados? That's awesome! I wish I had one.

I have four perfect attacking Jolteon's, but I only fully maxed out one of each offensive moveset (so two are level 20).

I would not fully power up your second carbon copy Gyarados. Stardust is so hard to come by man, and at higher levels you will regret having to maintain two of the exact same mons. I'd keep the second at its current level and use it when you can/keep it as a trophy.

Power it up, he can make up for it by topping Gym's. :D

I do wish to have such a Gyarados to keep at level 20 and use it when training for prestiges. Most of my Gyaradoses are now from 2500 CP and above and I can't use them for prestiges.

Dust that Gyarados! Looks like Gen 2 will be released piecemeal so there will be plenty of time to collect more dust.

What level are you and how many mons/teams are you leveling?

Because TBH, being a level 37 trying to level up/maintain mons right now is damn near impossible. Nonchalantly throwing dust into a carbon copy mon is IMO not the best advice/choice.

Is stardust really that hard to farm? I can farm 30k dust in 1-2 hour everyday. I'm lv 34 I have 18 mon that I maxed out.

So to get your mons from 35.5 to 38.5 you will need 51,000 Stardust each, or 918,000 to max out your squad of 18. It only gets worse after level 37, and we don't even have the next 100 yet.

Getting that much Stardust is daunting, even if you are spending money on incubators and catching non-stop.

Also, this assumes you are not replacing any of those 18 mons with better versions as they come along. For example, I've had three maxed out Exeggutor's (top attacking moveset) because over time I've found better IVs. Not wasted Stardust and definitely a good "problem" but still something to consider.

Lastly, what about other mons? Project mons, or teams you are trying to get to at least level 30. Do you have any of these?

It's very hard dude. I didn't realize just how hard it is until about level 35-36, and I was fortunate the Thanksgiving event happened then. Just ask Red, I was saved by the bell with that shit.

30k for two hours? I dont believe you :) Its 1 pokemon every 20sec with nonstop catching. 10-15 sec for animation and some time for throws and berries. Spin pokestops take some time too. Are you cheater? :)

That's true too, since that kind of "farming" is only remotely possible if he is hatching eggs. I'm in Santa Monica all day with work, so I can catch non-stop if I want and I still won't get that much from catching alone.

That kind of Stardust farming is doable during the Stardust event, which really helped me max out my mons/teams but without that kind of event it's beyond an uphill climb. It's a damn 90 degree slope.

That guy likes to exaggerate. He once said he can clear a level 10 gym (this was when it was 500 per level) with 3 2500cp Vaporeons in less than half an hour.

I don't remember I said less than half an hour I just gave the number. Btw I have been report cheating a lot even on other games but still don't get ban. I have no proof on this so it up to you to believe it or not but I actually did it. I don't know if you ever seen more than 15-20 mon spawn in the same area at the same time but I did and that place respawn really quick. Have you ever done smth to break your limit? Except theory crafting.

Average player will not get anywhere near 30k dust in per hour, it can be quite hard to farm. I'm probably getting that per week since winter set in. Only have 110k XP since Thanksgiving. Dust is much lower.

Probably get 2,000 dust per hour in summer with a lot of walking for spawns.

Since you already have one maxed, if you do power this one up, going just to lv30 is probably good enough. A 100% Gyarados at lv30 is 2812 CP and 149 HP. That should be plenty for attacking, and is still enough to be a backup if you need something to put in a gym.

At least the candy is easy to get for a magickarp.

I suppose it's nice to have so many mons to max out since I am only trying to max 2 so far...and have plenty (for me) of dust currently (600k+).

I agree that taking it to 30 should be pretty easy and would sit atop most gyms already so that should hold you over till you need to power something else up.

Attackers don't even need that much dust really.

Save ur stardust. Advise from a level 38.4 player. And another reason being Gyarados sucks... i have 2 maxed out at 39, just so i can put in gym, it had no value in my pokemon team.
