Powering up lugia till Lv30

Hi there,

Been thinking about this a longer time. What is your opinion to powering up a iv98 (dev/hp) Lugia? I currently have 148 rare candy and 800k stardust.

Great if you want to solo Machamp. They make it much easier even against Bullet Punch + Heavy Slam, Lugia is still really tanky.

Seeing as it's already got 14 or 15 attack if you're going to level it up to 30 you may as well take it to 31.5 / 32 as that's when Extrasensory goes up in damage which will make Lugia's damage output higher.

I agree. Lugia is a great anchor for Machamp and Gengar in my experience. Start with glass cannons and clean up the last bit of health with Lugia.

Power it up if you need help soloing Machamp or are in need of a more potion-efficient gym attacker. But since your rare candy is pretty limited, I would give priority to other, better legendaries, which include Moltres, Raikou, Entei, Groudon and the probably soon-to-be-out Kyogre.

I maxed my Lugia about two months ago and while it is amazing in Machamp solos, I've at most fought with it maybe 10 times. I never have trouble with healing items so its strictly a Machamp specialist for me.

I tried cloudy weather Machamp today and it had C/DP...won with 25 seconds left, no dodge. Mewtwo ShB 3314; Mewtwo ShB 3103; FS Espeon 2511; Hur Dragonite 3213; PC/FS Alakazam 2448; SA Lugia 3177---the above had whatever you think are the best moves for battling Machamp. Lugia anchor barely held on...I would have done it again with my 2nd double psychic Lugia 3122 if I had to (if a long time to reenter after possible faint). Lugia great keeping you alive/afloat

Nice team, but having two Mewto surely helps here. I battle Machamp from time to time and all I use is my Ho-oh, then Lugia and after that my Dragonite finishes off. Having a good Lugia is a nice addition and very potion efficient. Powering one to lvl 30 is recommended and even more if it has 98%.

I have too many Machamps, so I haven't even thought about doing one since my 2nd Mewtwo. Heck, I transferred 12 Tyranitars today--all of them below 2060---have 18 left. Evolved a boosted level 34 larvitar with the new candy. Think I'm done with M and T. Interested to see the boosted double Fighting Machamp, was lagging a lot but the bottom charge button and the faster charge of my moves made it not too tough (b/c had just enough bulk)

Lugia is awesome in Machamp and Gengar solo raids. You just have to make sure it has future sight and extrasensory

Extrasensory/Future Sight and Extrasensory/Sky Attack are both strong against Machamp, but Sky Attack is stronger. E/SA is also generally the preferred moveset if you want to use it as a gym sweeper.

If/when you get an EX invite for Mewtwo, Lugia with Dragon Tail/Sky Attack resists the psychic fast moves and the dreaded Focus Blast and deals neutral damage in return.

If you have Hydro Pump, or get it while trying to TM for one of the others, Extrasensory/Hydro Pump currently has a niche use against Groudon, because it resists Solar Beam and Earthquake.

People often underestimate Lugia with Dragon Tail/Sky Attack. It has great coverage, and Dragon Types and Psychic Types often are weak to themselves, so this makes a great counter to them.

It's really the best answer to Focus Blast. I'd still love to power a second one with Extrasensory/Sky Attack, since I use mine as a potion-efficient generalist and this is the best set for that.
