Possible unannounced holiday bonus?
I made a run this afternoon to stock up on pokestop supplies, visit my local Bulbasaur nest, and see if I could catch a holiday Pikachu. I filled my item bag and got only one Bulbasaur, but I did catch a holiday Pikachu...and TWO wild Laprases! The first is CP 1484, level 19, IV's 7/5/4 (35.6%), so not a real powerhouse, but a useful prestige mon. The second is CP 2452, level 30, 8/15/12 (77.8%). Both have ice shard/blizzard.
Coincidence? Maybe, but they are only the second and third wild Laprases I have seen since I started playing in July, and they appeared 15 minutes apart on the day that the ostensibly disappointing holiday event announcement was made. Niantic does have a history of underpromising and overdelivering on their special holiday events.
To top it off, when I got home, there was a Dratini waiting for me, although that is not too uncommon.

Yes scooter. Saw snorlax from my front porch immediately after new welcome banner started. I think I've caught 2 on my road since release of game, they aren't extremely rare in my surrounding area but I'm not used to seeing them pop up right on my doorstep. I was just seeing if Pikachu was around.
Surely more would be reporting it though.
The other wild Lapras I caught, three months ago, was in the same general area (all three within two blocks of each other), and I've caught two wild Porygons in the same area. It used to be a regular spawn spot for rarer pokemon (Onix, Machoke, Electabuzz, Arcanine, Rhydon, off the top of my head), but I haven't seen anything interesting there since the Halloween event. Until today, that is.
This is very interesting and curious what others are experiencing. I was out briefly at lunch and didn't see anything too crazy other than a bunch of Pikachus with hats.
I've seen 2 Snorlax wild spawns near my house and I caught one about a month ago. But I have 3 pokestops nearby and now with the new tracker I can't see what else is "nearby" other than at pokestops.
On one hand it is cool that I can tell exactly what is at each pokestop and if it is worth going there but I also can't see what is spawning at the location one block south of me. That is where the two Snorlax spawned and very often Eevees. If a Lapras was going to spawn I'm pretty sure that is where it would be but I have no idea now as my tracked only shows pokestops.
Wish there was a way to flip between nearby and sightings specifically.

Just outside of this building is full of pokemons, like literally, but tracker shows different kind of mixed amount pokemons from 2-3 pokestops.
Many times while visiting shops i have found good pokemons that im looking for and tracker havent showed them, fucking sucks donkey balls...and hard.
...and i dont have motivation to go blind catch pokemons, other than on my way to shops.
nothing apart from commons spawning here. no rares, no pikachus. checked the surrounding area with pokealert as it is raining right now but also nothing. I was wondering if the new stuff hasn't come out in Japan yet but I sawa screenshot a second ago with a xmas pikachu so maybe my neighbourhood is just really unlucky
