Gen II Tier 3 & 4 Raid Bosses

All the Tier 3 raid bosses are from Gen I. Tyranitar is the only Tier 4 raid boss from Gen II.

Has there been any serious speculation which Gen II species could become Tier 3 or 4 raid bosses? Which species would you suggest (or prefer)?

Absol? (Which is curiously missing from the raid boss counters page)

How about Granbull, Togetic or Espeon as T3? Maybe Umbreon too.
T4: Steelix, Ampharos, Piloswine (I think I saw Pilo as a raid in a picture somewhere, but not sure what tier or if we'll ever get it and Pikachu).

I think he was a raid boss briefly at some overseas event. I remember it too.

I wouldn't be very interested in any of those as raid boses except Piloswine to some extent.

Well, aside from them, I can't think of anything G2 has to offer that could be interesting as a raid boss. I chose them for the following reason:
Granbull - fairy type, hoping some fast fairy move would be added. Yeah Gardevoir is stronger but it's part psychic so it only receives neutral damage from dark.
Espeon - one of the best non-legendary psychic attackers.
Umbreon - just for the challenge, but would probably end up like what Cloyster is to T2.
Togetic - mostly to get a good one for Togekiss in gen 4, but also would want to know how it fares as a T3.
Piloswine - to get ready for Mammoswine and to see how it does as a T4.
Steelix - just to see how it does.
Ampharos - if they give it better moves, might be worth it. It's the other pseudolegendary of gen 4 aside from Tyranitar, so that's also why I picked it, but GO nerfed him too much.

To maintain a bit of that artificial scarcity, they could make Mareep or Flaafy a raid boss instead.

I only caught my first Mareep during the recent double stardust event and have only ever hatched two, so I would certainly do an Ampharos raid.

I think a problem with some desirable Generation 2 species is that they require evolution items. Steelix, Porygon2 and Scizor and the sort. Therefore putting them as a raid boss kind of defeats the purpose. With that in mind Gen 2 doesn't have much to offer then.

These should currently be the raid bosses. For the record you can't have Steelix, they don't allow you to catch anything that needs an item to evolve.

Tier 1; Pidgeot, Butterfree, Beedrill, Wartortle, Charmeleon Ivysaur, Mareep, Magikarp, Feebas, Wailmer

Tier 2; Onix, Aerodactyl, Magneton, Cloyster, Vigoroth, Togetic, Piloswine, Kirlia

Tier 3; Ninetales, Arcanine, Poliwrath, Exeggutor, Scyther, Houndoom, Machoke, Kadabra, Graveler, Haunter,

Tier 4; Dragonair, Pupitar, Sceptile, Blaziken, Smampert, Chansey, Snorlax, Lapras,

I believe allowing Tyranitar plus Machamp, Alakazam and Gengar into raids was a massive oversight and devalued those pokemon that are supposed to be challenging to get. I also do not believe eevolutions should be in raids, eevees are far too easy to get already.

Niantic made the mistake of releasing very rare Pokemon into raids for short term profit without caring about the meta. That's Niantic for you.

I also believe Niantic should give a free *mini pass* a day as well as the current free pass. With the mini pass you can only do a raid upto tier 3, this would get more people doing those raids.

This is a well thought out and well written analysis, bravo. I do disagree with Gengar tho as after 2 Halloween events I would hardly call Gengar rare or hard to get. Ive surpassed something like 2000 Gastly candy combined.

Also with the release and similar stats of Espeon, Alakazam could be over looked as too hard to get otherwise.

Aerodacytl should be higher as well or removed, Ive seen one, its supposed to be extinct and should be rare.
