How much invested in your legendaries?
Near end of the year, easier to keep track of resources to legendaries. Legendaries are currently a large part of the attacking meta. Typed in Legendary in the search feature and I added up the stardust and candy used (and stored) as legendary candy. PokeGenie app helped pinpoint the levels.
763 candy used in powerups.
851,000 stardust used.
357 legendary candy stored in various species.
60 rare candy in my bag.
Badge says I've won 157 legendary raids. Pokedex says I've caught 87 which is 55.4%

I plan to power up (and possibly max) at least one of each legendary. Rare Candy isn't really a significant number since I'm reserving all of it for legendaries, but I can say that I've invested 600,000 Stardust on the dot on maxing one Mewtwo, one Lugia, and bringing to level 30 one Raikou and one Zapdos. My next candidate for maxing will probably be Moltres, but as Groudon is nearing its end and with Kyogre taking the stage, the firebird may have to wait.
Mewtwo PC/FB L27
Zapdos CB/Tb L27
Raikou TS/WC still at L20, but going to power up very soon
Lugia Es/FS still at L20, might be powering up
First 3 will be maxed out, Lugia most likely to L30. Mewtwo first of course. I'm lazy to grind stardust to power up the other legendaries, I'll rather just make high level armies of their budget versions like Flareon. Most of my stardust goes to Dnites and Ttars.
If you're wondering why I powered up Zapdos before Raikou, I powered up the Zapdos before Raikou came to my region.
I'll include the species I've put dust and candy into.

Haven't powered up Entei (117 candy earned) or Suicune (18 candy earned)
Here is a screenshot of my legendary collection, as of now. All of them are maxed out to lvl 40 except Groudon, whom I just powered up to lvl 33 yesterday. Each of them were caught at lvl 20 (Groudon included), so no weather boosts.
It takes a total of 225k stardust and 248 candies to bring each legendary from lvl 20 to lvl 40. I've powered up eight of the nine legendaries I have from lvl 20 to lvl 40. In Groudon's case, I brought it from lvl 20 to lvl 33, so around 109k stardust and 98 candies were invested into it, so far. Doing the math, we have:
•STARDUST
225k stardust x 8 = 1.8 M stardust
1.8 M stardust + 109k = 1,909,000 total stardust invested in legendaries alone! And, to bring Groudon to lvl 40, I'll need 116k more stardust, which means a grand total of 2,025,000 stardust will be invested in these legendaries!
•CANDIES
248 candies x 8 = 1,984 candies
1,984 candies + 98 = 2,082 total candies invested in legendaries alone! And, to bring Groudon to lvl 40, I'll need 150 more candies, which means a grand total of 2,232 candies will be used on these legendaries!
I have to admit, that's a lot of resources for just nine Pokémon haha! It'll just increase with more upcoming legendaries (and if I ever get a chance at Mewtwo).
L30 Zap
L31.5 Lugia (Machamp breakpoint)
L30 Raikou
L22 Raikou
L21 Entei (stopped)
L30 (from 25) ho-oh
Have used zero dust on Arti (89), moltres (93), suicune (98), and groudon (93, weather buff). So, maybe 250,000 dust and about 250 RC so far. Have 223 RC parked in the legendaries and 244 in inventory. (Also used about 60 RC to get 100IV mareep to Ampharos).
197 total raids (101 reg, 96 leg/52 caught).
You're right, of course. They're just...stat sticks. Groudon is cool, but I don't find Kyogre compelling as a Pokemon from a fan perspective.
Also, they just obviate everything. Give Kyogre Blizzard, and it's the best Ice attacker! Give it [insert move] and it's the best [insert type] attacker. Feels so generic.
If Groudon gets Precipice Blades, however, that will put it over the edge for me.
To level 40:
Mewtwo 82%
Mewtwo 76%
Lugia 91%
Raikou 91%
To level 35:
Zapdos 91%
Moltres 93%
To level 30:
Lugia 80% (for sentimental reasons; it was my first ever legendary. Plus, it has a 15 attack)
On Deck:
Groudon 96% unless I catch a better one in the next few weeks.
Maybe one day:
Entei 98%
Articuno 89%
Ho-Oh 96% weather boosted
Never:
Suicune
