Most useful legendary for future use

Out of the current released lengendaries, which will worth powering up for future use if I only can invest rare candies on one only?

You spellet it incorrectly.

If defense would be calculated correctly in this game it will be good.

Having powered up several of these, I'd choose Raikou.

One of lugia or raikou

Lugia is the only super tank worth powering up that is offensively capable. Only thing that comes close is snorlax against a psychic type.

Raikou is a decent generalist and best electric in the game.

Every one of them aside of Suicune and Registeel are useful to some degree.

Mewtwo (that is, if you ever get a chance at catching it)

I’d go for Articuno or Raikou as they are most effective in the current meta.

Really depends on your local meta and what non-legendaries you have. For example, if you already have multiple high-level wonder Flareons with FS/OH, do not invest in Moltres or Entei. If Gyarados is a popular defender in your area and you lack good Electric-type attackers, choose Raikou (or Zapdos). If you really need a tank for soloing Machamp raids, go for Lugia.

I'd put Mewtwo at the head of this list, but after that I 100% agree. I've already started moving some rare candy over to these three so I can start the long march to max whenever I need to generate more bag space.

My favorite is Lugia as an anchor to Gengar and Machamp raids. Very useful. MewTwo has been a bit disappointing (more glass than I expected).

Mewtwo for me (even though I don’t have one) must be number 1. His fire power is unmatched.
