Tier 2 raid dificulty
Hey guys. I went up against a cloyster today and was always timing out. Tried different setups like full jolteon party and swapped around some double rock golems double dragon dragonite solar beam exeggcutors and a few neutral damage glass cannons ALL AT or CLOSE TO lvl 35 but without success. Now this was my first raid since the bosses rotated but i remember that i used to do tier2 bosses alot easier before. 1-2 mons were more than enough to beat them down.. now i know cloyster has alot of defence and a pretty high cp for a tier2 but did they increased the difficulty of t2 bosses when they rotated?
Thanks and happy holidays!

T2s are still the same in terms of HP and CPM, Cloyster is harder than most T2s because of it's insanely high defence. Like you said, it's almost comparable in difficulty to a level 3 raid, though still easier with optimal counters.
Your choice of Pokemon is suboptimal to say the least though. You shouldn't be using Dragonites as they're double weak to ice and only offer STAB damage. A good counter at level 30 is more useful than a level 35 Dragonite.
Golems are glass cannons in this matchup as they are single weak to ice and double weak to water - Cloyster has Hydro Pump - sure they offer super effective damage, but so do other Pokemon without being weak to Cloyster's moves.
Exeggutors are in the same boat, weak to ice and though you resist Hydro Pump, it still deals a ton of damage. It'll probably still make your Exeggutor faint as you'll have taken plenty of damage from Cloyster's ice quick move. Plus Solar Beam being a slow move that requires 100 energy makes it more likely that you'll faint before using all your energy, making Exeggutor's DPS inconsistent, and it's not even the near the top in time to win to make up for it.
Optimal counters are fighting or electric as they offer super effective STAB damage and don't take extra damage. Machamp and Raikou are at the top of time to win and both have decent bulk, though you can use similar alternatives.
Your Jolteons are fine but you'll need to dodge. A full team of Jolteon's at 30 has a clear time of around 160s with either TS/D or TS/TB so I'm not sure why you'd be timing out.
That is just completely wrong. Where do you get this stuff? There is absolutely NOT an increase in attack and defense that is proportional to the increase in HP. The attack and defense stats for raid bosses are simply a function of the base stats plus 15 (i.e. assumed perfect IV's).
Cloyster has a very high base defense stat (third highest in the game), but that is normally offset by low base stamina (HP). However, since raid bosses all have a fixed HP, the only variable in "tankiness" for a given tier is the defense stat. Therefore, Cloyster is extremely tanky.
Your claim that Cloyster's attack and defense stats are boosted any more than the other T2 bosses' because of Cloyster's low HP is simply false.
Blissey WOULD be a difficult raid boss, because Blissey has a relatively high base defense stat, and unlike Omastar and Golem, Blissey has no double weaknesses. Blissey's low attack stat would mean that the biggest problem for raiders would be timing out, not survivability.
I did try the first 2 times with only jolteons but since i was timing out i decided to not care about weakness and go for damage output. Some of the jolteons are low iv and 2 have the crappy 2.3 charge move anyway..Dragonite did more damage than 2-3 of the weakest jolteons and cuz it was sunny eggys did tons of dmg with solar beam. Golems i didnt see much of a difference.. I really lack in alot of departments due to being rural. Havent done a single tier4 raid so legendaries are just a dream to me.. plus i have ZERO viable fighting mons not even a pliwrath from duzens of tries.. i forgot to try a few flareons since it was sunny but the jolteons should have been better anyway. I dunno maybe having an old phone didnt helped.. oh and i was dodging btw with ocasional fails. I also forgetv that 3 of the jolteons are below lvl 30 maybe thats why eggys and dragonite improved the fight. At some point i was timing out at less than 2-3%
I've fought Cloyster twice and both were pretty tough fights. It is not a big deal to have some struggle with it, you seem to know some weak areas on your squad. With the new weather system you have a great opportunity to fortify some of those spots and you can greatly improve, even without the higher tier raids being accessible.
Cloyster is an exception among T2 bosses, because of its very high base defense stat. C/DP Machamps are the best bet. Otherwise, if you don't have any legendaries, strong Jolteons, RT/SE Golems, DT/O Dragonites, and B/SE T-tars are viable, but you will be cutting it close with those attackers.
If you don't have C/DP Machamps, make that a priority. They are one of the most useful mons in the game. C/DP Hariyamas are almost as good, so farm Makuhitas if you can,
