How many players are really needed for tier 4 raids?

I haven't attempted it in a long time but have a new friend who appreciates PoGo as much as I do. She's level 40, I'm 39... I realize two aren't enough, of course, but I may be able to get more casual family members to help (level 32, 27, 22... but they have played for a long time and have decent attackers, although no legendaries).

So what realistic number if mixed level players to defeat a Lapras, Snorlax and especially Tyranitar?

Thanks for any info!

P.S. I'm trying to get more local (small town) players into a Discord group, but it takes time.

Many days Tyranitar is easy...even easier with the bottom charge button. If you and the 40 have Machamps an average player your level has, then you could win every time with the 32, plus either the 27 and 22 helping. It would be exciting/close the first time you tried 40, 39, 32 or 40, 39, 27, but you'd be able to do it easier once the lower levels got an extra fighter or two. Lapras and Snorlax are relatively tough, in your situation looking at 5 or more to do it

what about Golem? possible to be duo due to double weakness to grass?

I've never fought a Golem, I already have 11 of them over 2400. I haven't really looked into the difficulty very close either. Victreebel is pretty easy with 3, though. They should be able to do the Tyranitar with the 39, 40, and 22, but I'm guessing none of them have ever raided Tyrantitar yet, so they would be nervous and hoping it was the right weather not to have a buffed Fireblast or Stone Edge

I think it is only possible on a sunny (grass) or rainy (water) day. His def is too high for duo without weather bonus.

I live in a small town and started our group when raids began and at first took us 6 for a 4 tier. Now depending on who's there we can do it with 4 or 5. Example today I was using my 40 and 32, 37,37,36,32 and we defeated a Solar Beam Ho-Oh. Lost the first time. I would say with 5 on a normal tier 4 would be fine and as you improve as a group it takes less. Good Luck!!!!

For the 3 raids you mentioned and for absol the optimal counter is machamp. If you and the lvl 40 raise a small machamp army tyranitar and absol should be doable with 3-4 players. Lapras probably 5-6 and snorlax 6-7. Depending on your counters golem should be easy with 4 and victreebel with 3-4. If you have the weather on your side you can even go below those numbers.

My city had our 1st cloudy day and I quickly added a 2600 Machamp, check Pokebattler and adjust the weather, but many places clear and partly cloudy are the most common weather types. Days like that muddy the metrics...crunch is what you consistently hope for if reinforcements not possible

Spreadsheet with good guidelines. Don't know how much weather changes these calculations.

With maxed (or probably level 35+) counters and the right weather, 2 players if your levels can do a lot of damage. The 2 of you alone could potentially do Absol, Victreebel, and Tyranitar within reason. With some luck (and the right weather), you can duo snorlax, lapras, and maybe even and the nidos. Add in 2 other players and you shouldn't need any other weather advantages to take down any tier 4.

75% of what is being discussed is contingent on the raiders' Machamps. And hopefully they have the best moves on them. No predicting if the 32 and 27 will bring Water Pulse Vaporeons to the Tyranitar or if they're fortunate to have several level 20+ Machamps. Snorlax weather buffed (EQ in clear and HB in partly cloudy conditions...gonna be as hard as Snorlax was in July). Lapras...they don't have Raikou and Zapdos...so need Machamps, need weather and a bunch of potions and revives to try things out on a 2nd attempt. Better to bring an extra raider than just going by what YouTube or Pokebattler predicts.

If you have six powered up (say, level 33-35) C/DP Machamps, Tyranitar can be duoed. With two of you being high-level, you should be able to three-man Tyranitar without much difficulty, if you have at least 2-3 strong (level 30+) Machamps each, plus some other fighting types like Hariyama, double-fighting Poliwrath, double fighting Ursaring, etc.

I three-manned Tyranitar with my daughter and a friend a few months ago, when I was level 38, and they were 33 and 34 respectively. It was against an easier moveset (bite/crunch), and it took us four tries, but at the time I only had two Machamps (one of which was a weaker legacy KC/CC version), one or two fighting Poliwraths, and then some lesser counters. The other two's teams were even less optimal.

Now, my and my daughter's fighting lineups are much stronger, and I don't think we're too far away from duoing T-tar, with her now at level 34 and me at 39. I have no doubt we could duo Absol, and I'm just waiting for one to pop up when she is available to do it.

Snorlax and Lapras can both be three-manned with three strong players, but with your crew, four is realistic. Again, the key is having multiple C/DP Machamps. You can fill out the lineup against Snorlax with other decent fighting types, and DT/O Dragonites; against Lapras, strong electrics and double-grass Exeggutors can fill out your team.

I know of a local guy who defeated Lapras by himself using four devices, which is not the most efficient way to do raids. Two of his accounts are very strong, but the other two are maybe mid-30's.

I can't overstate the value of C/DP Machamps against all of these bosses.

Edit: I forgot about Victreebel, which is another one I'm working towards being able to duo with my daughter. I don't think we are quite there yet, but with a 39 and a 40, you two might be able to do it.

Also, if you don't already use it, I highly recommend setting up a pokebox on pokebattler.com. You can enter up to 50 pokemon with a free account, and then you can look at how your team will fair against various raid bosses, based on simulations. It is a very useful tool for optimizing your raid teams.

When you say "casual family members", you mean alternate logins (on different teams), right? I know someone (level 40 , like you!) who always brings two phones to raids and is always playing for his little "nephew" on one of them.

They are hardly gaming the game, they have at max a couple legendaries and no raided Tyranitars. Anyway, kinda dumb that a 32 and 25 is better than a 40
