How are you using your Golden Razz?

Hear a lot of questions about where to put rare candy, etc. Only in an "emergency" would I dip into it for 3 or 4 Dragonite or larvitar candies. Otherwise rare candy goes to legendaries, whether I'm gonna power them up soon or not.

However, Golden Razz are plentiful in my bag with not always an obvious use. Do you or would you now consider using them to catch boosted wilds? Maybe you find a boosted Ralts, Torchic, or super high eevee or geodude--is there a scenario where GR is now the usual option?

A friend told me that the lvl23 Machamp standing next to me was 98%...it got a Golden Razz instantly.
I also used one on a Hariyama the other day.

I won't say I use them regularly but there are times that I am happy to use them.
For the record, I have a small stash but not a huge hoard of them...but they can be collected easier so I tend to guard them less.

I used to pinap every single rare mon I found, but lately nearly every Dragonite I tried to pinap has run, so I switched to my plentiful golden razzes. Similarly, I GR the rarer evolved weather mons I've found recently, several Hariyama, a few Breloom, etc, just because I don't need 200+ gold berries. Also, it's occasionally helpful to keep an eye on your held gyms if you're near midnight and want to make sure the mons last til they can give you more coins. Lately my daily solo T3s have completely stopped giving me rare candies while continuing to overload me with golden razzes, so this subject has been on my mind.

I use them for rare wild mons (e.g. snorlax and lapras), or high level ones like a level 35 mudkip I found the other day. The rest I just throw in gyms for dust so they won't clog my bag.

I never used GR for rare wild mons...

only use it to defend gym!!

I used Golden Razzes to catch evolved wilds and Murkrows before the potions nerfed the GRB income from raids. After they added the static GRB bonus, I've been using them again on wild catches, as well as feeding 10 or 20 every now and then when trying to keep a high turnover gym.

Weather spawns a lot of evolved forms in my area and I'd run out of balls fast if I wasted 10 pokeballs on every high CP Kakuna or Ariados, not to speak of how much time that takes, so I throw a GRB and an ultra ball at them which is usually enough to catch them with the first one. Makes me happy to get so much GRB from raids now.

Rare wild mons I always pinap unless it's one I especially want. Basically if I know from the CP that it's likely to be high IV as well as high level.

I tend to do T2-4 raids (which I always pinap) about 15% more than I do legendaries so GR level is never a concern. I’ve started using GR on weather boosted mons. I think of it like being worth about 30k in stardust. Which is definitely worth it.

I use them in every legendary encounter, about 3-5 each time because I want to catch them no matter what. If I'm going to a raid and I don't even get rare candy or a TM out of it I want to have some payoff and catch that thing.

I will use them for high CP catches (even though Hariyama 2400 CP GRazz + Ultraball still said bye bye) and low motivated gyms that I'm trying to get the golden badge for. I still have a bit over 100.

I use them to defend gyms in Hong Kong. I use more than I stock up.

In London I don't need to use them to defend gyms, so I can stock them up here and restore equilibrium.

Unless the pokemon is something exceptional I don't use golden razz, just regular razz.

I use all golden razz for legendaries now to keep my catch ratio record high.

On about 130 now, but I think 50 should be a good place to stop dumping into defending gyms.

I also try to keep 50 in my inventory. I always use them on raid bosses I really want to catch, some on gym defense, and some on wild catches I don't want to risk losing.

I use GR's on:

- really high CP wild mons that I don't want to waste balls on
- mons of any CP that give me trouble, even with Ultra Balls, Curveballs, Great Throws and Razzberries (Murkrow, most of the Starters just refuse to stay in the ball on the first 4-5 throws for me if they're level 10+.)
- defending gyms from people trying to take it down within an hour of me putting my mon on the gym
- catching Raid Boss Pokémon (when appropriate)

After being ball deficient and potion heavy (winning too many raids, I know, tough problem), now I find myself with a good number of potions, a good number of balls, and ~150 golden razzies and ~150 pinap berries. (I also have over 130 rare candy, but I'll work around that issue - powering up a Ho-Oh after the window closes will take some of that away.)

My solutions - use Goldens occasionally for the tougher to catch mon. Any meta relevant evolved mon gets one, and I'm more liberal with them in gyms. It also takes some pressure off the regular razzies and more potent balls - don't send a boy to do a man's job and all that.

I've been tossing pinap berries at pidgey, weedle, and caterpie, to convert to experience, as well as wurmple, and also using them on some of the new Gen3 catches if they don't look too tough to bring home (3 candies and a mon better than 0 candies and no mon). Kind of enjoying that freedom, and will keep it up until my fruits are back to reasonable levels.

I use them for defending gyms to try and get more Gold Badges. Getting really close to a cluster of gyms in a very high turnover place that is one of the hot spots to rack up some balls.

Once I get really close to getting a Gold Badge, I feed every Pokémon that’s currently in the gym with me so I have a better chance at staying in it longer.

I made a lil' fort with them.

What I did earlier:
>Get kicked out of gym mere minutes after placing a Blissey.
>Return to gym.
>Put a Lickitung.
>Wait in the distance for the opponent to return to try and reclaim the gym.
>Proceed to spam remote Golden Berries.
>Watch as the gym stops being attacked after several golden berries.
>Lickitung lives to stick his tongue out another day.

Sitting on 230, and wish we got more Rare Candy, and less Golden Razz from raids.

Yes, I use them for throwing at stuff I really want to catch.

I also use them to selectively heal whole gyms I'm in. I only care about getting kicked out of one gym per day, so if I collect the full 50 coins, I'll start healing another gym to make it a little less attractive, and hopefully last until the next day.

Then there is working on gold at sponsor gyms and parks (not that it's helped me much yet). I'll top off my defending Blissey with a golden every few hours, and sometimes the whole gym.
