Depends on the mon. I would prefer a 15A/15D/13S Entei, but a 15A/13D/15S Lugia.

If their natural stat is higher, the IV can be lower with minimal loss.

Most players would prefer 13 defense, since you gain more energy with lower defense by taking more damage, andso so you are able to get off your charge move faster which in turn gets you more dps.

The potential energy gain is very unlikely to matter because of damage and then energy gain rounding. It's possible but the potential cases are extremely rare.

Most would say 15/13/15 but as wateryouwading mentioned, it is pokemon dependent. For example a 0 HP IV Blissey has practically no loss due to it being 500+ to start with. Lugia also gains almost nothing from defense IV because it has 300+ to begin with.

For those with more even distribution (Dragonite, Gyarados etc), HP is generally preferred.

Depends on the mon in question.

As a rule I would take the 13 stamina, as in the vast number of cases, because when max'd out it will only be a couple of HP difference at most.

On most Pokemon I rather have 15 defense than 15 stamina. You can hit last defensive breakpoints where 13 defense sometimes can not. Difference between 13 and 15 stamina is 1 hit point most of the time sometimes 2 hp.

HP = stamina = ( base stamina + stamina IV ) * CPM

The difference in HP based on IVs for any pokemon is stamina IV * CPM.

At level 40, the difference of 5 stamina IVs is either 3 or 4 HP, depending on rounding. Except for pokemon with exceptionally low base stamina, how often does 4 HP matter? That is at most 2 extra energy.

As others have said, depends on the pokemon. Gengar and Alakazam are some extreme cases where I might even take 15hp over 15a, because their damage output is so dependent on how long they survive with those tiny health pools.

Generally just look at the base stats and prefer the stat that makes more of a relative difference. If both stats equal, I prefer hp because it's a guaranteed improvement for most pokemon, whereas missing a defensive breakpoint is more unlikely to happen. Some pokemon will have identical hp at 14 and 15 IV at L40 which is worth checking out if considering maxing something.
