Is the new special event giving extra candies?
This evening I was told that the new special is to raise the amount of Candies 4x's when walking your buddy. However, Pokémon Go website on Facebook makes no mention of any new developments??? Does anyone know about this?

Totally true, just speculation at this point, I really hope it could be a mix of both previous events, just before the year ends and before taking out gen 2, make 2xdust, 2xcandy event would be pretty nice to stock up for the upcoming mons, I'm still having a lot of trouble to get more Chansey, Onix and Porygon candies.
If the Christmas event is just gen2 the anounce they made about adding new mons and some in game events before the end of the year is just a lie...I would be pretty disappointed, we will have gen2 mons for a lot of months, the most intelligent idea would be made a christmas event and when it has finished before new year release the gen2, it's a win win for us and for Niantic, people would spend money and play more on the event and after it when the gen2 is released.
Agreed...Unless they are lying, the official announcement pointed to some events for sure:
"We’re excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you before wrapping up the year."

I would love 4x candy again more than double exp/stardust. Reduced power up cost or evolving would be similar to 4x candy as well and "different".
