I know hardly anything about Gen III...

...except the five already in the game, what I learnt from the Safest Bets article, that Slaking is expected to break the meta and i herd you liek mudkipz.

Is there an article summarising Gen III? If not, could someone familiar with Gen III do a quick introduction? For example, what is likely to be common trash? Which have unusual forms (like Unown) or traits (like Ditto)? Which species should I try to farm (and use Pinaps on)? I am in a urban tropical grass/water biome, but with many nest parks.

I'll answer based only on the speculated 50 that were published on this site too.

Wurmple is for sure a fodder common. 12 or 25 candy evo, probably 12. Poochyena and Zigzagoon probably commons too, at least one of them likely to be a 25 evo.

Farm and pinap: Starters, Ralts, Slakoth, Aron, Bagon. And evolved forms of course.
Farm: Absol if it gets a good dark moveset.

No. Absol has 5 less attack but Crunch is actually a pretty bad charge move. If Absol has for example, Snarl/Foul Play, it'll have better DPS than Tyranitar and be a good glass cannon for when you want maximum speed. Tyranitar will still be overall stronger dark attacker.
