ZH/Lick + Earthquake Snorlax to be the best defending Snorlax set come gen 2?

Ever since the CP formula update, Snorlax finally now has a counter in Rhydon, who resists Body Slam and Hyper Beam from his part rock type.

Now, when gen comes, Snorlax will have an even bigger counter in the form of Tyranitar, and yes while it will be a while before people get Tyranitar, you know there's going to be those lucky so and so's who get day 1 Tyranitars.
Earthquake is THE ONLY move that Tyranitar doesn't resist and it in fact takes super effective damage from it.

As well as Tyranitar are the new steel types Steelix (max cp 2439) and Scizor (max cp 2801) as well as Forretress and Magneton to a lesser extent, who naturally resist all of Snorlaxes moves bar Lick and Earthquake (with Scizor still only takin neutral damage from EQ, Steelix will take SE from EQ though)

Now a SE EQ will do approximately 29.75 DPS whereas resisted Body Slam will only do about 25.68 DPS and resisted Hyper Beam does about 24 DPS.

I am wondering whether this sacrifice is worth it since it does worsen the match up against attacking Dragonite, Gyarados and Heracross (who should be a really good attacker, presuming they get their old signature move megahorn as well as cross chop and good bug and fighting quick moves) quite a bit

Also I can assure you, that there will be day 1 Scizors and Steelixes since people have been grinding/saving up Onix and Scyther candy

THIS will be the reason why I will be holding onto my low CP snorlaxes with zen/lick/eq and saving candies to power up if need be. Great insight dude.

In my opinion, definitely not worth it. To make one match-up slightly better while making 90% of other match-ups significantly worse can't be worth it.

We will see soon enough, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Snorlax when dodged properly is wrecked anyway by common attackers, so I wouldn't worry too much.

He really is only good against people who don't dodge well.

Anything is wrecked by any good dodging attacker... But snorlax is still the more annoying.

Best defending combination for Snorlax is most likely to stay ZH\BS. In theory HB is good, in practice, having HB on defender mean you should calculate it as 25% Dmg from it, as it almost never-ever land on attacker.

But really not like people have a flood of Snorlaxes to select from. Usually they all used in gyms regardless of their moves, since well, it's still Snorlax, even with less preferred movesets.

Zh/BS will still be the best move. All one full bar move are bad for defending.
Lick earthquake is especially terrible.
