I am level 37 trainer but have just managed to take to pokemon to level 39. I thought it was only +1.5, Can someone explain this?

It changed with the last update. They fixed an 1.5 year old bug according to aSp, at last.

Niantic just changed the cap from +1.5 to +2.

According to them, the cap was always intended to be +2 and the +1.5 was due to a bug which they have now fixed.

I don’t get why this is being labeled as a bug by niantic. Clearly they knew about it as it was over 16 months with that formula. It makes me weary of them possibly introducing another max level which I am very much against.
