Keeping Pokemon for trading

Is it a good idea to keep pokemon with good move sets and iv's off which you have multiple versions for when trade come available?

Or just transfer them because maybe trade ll be never available or it ll take a long time before it is there? Does Niantic ever said something about trading pokemon?

Keeping good pokemons that you don't use because you have a better version takes up lots of pokemon storage.

Since they've never actually said anything about how trading will work, I'm assuming (and hoping) it's gonna be worldwide, maybe using another app (that Niantic could made) only for trading, letting the game be fluid as always; if this is the case, I'm keeping all the pokemon that I think are gonna be tradeable, like a lot of Mr Mime or particular pokemon that some collectors may want (I honestly want a Dragon Breath - Dragon Pulse Gyarados myself).

It is easier for them to introduce new pokemon than trading. So I would be surprised if we can trade anytime soon.

I think the introduction of shiny pokemon is a first small step to trading (exclusive pokemon are very tradeable) But the result of niantic "no or as less as possible" communication policy makes lots of players spent real money on pokemon storage so they can keep the pokemon they hope to trade someday.

There are many problems that trading would introduce to the game. I'm pretty sure every player would have 10 Lapras after trading is enabled because of all the botted accounts people have, I'm not sure how I see the trading working to be honest, and it's sad.

What comes to keeping Pokémon, I'd suggest you keep as many as you can afford (capacity-wise) because you never know if they for example make an item that has the ability to randomize one of Pokémon's moves or something like that, then you'd hate that you threw away that 96% Pokémon just because it had really bad moves. How much storage space do you have for Pokémon? If you are getting low on space, I'd recommend first removing the Pokémon that you keep just for trading (eg. your regionals) and after that move to Pokémon with bad moveset bad good IV.

My question was just to know what different players do at the moment regarding keeping pokemon, at the moment there is no good or wrong strategy because there is not enough information what will happen in the future (i share your concern that introduction of trading would be very hard to do)

Personally at this moment i keep of all non completely evolved pokemon my best iv with perfect attacking moveset (to level gyms)
For completely evolved pokemon i keep 80+ IV with perfect moveset (A moveset based upon this site) and 90+ IV with non perfect moveset

But as time progresses without introduction of trade these criteria needs to get stricter. Also with introduction of gen 2 (i expect everyone to get 100 additional pokemon spaces) it ll be harder to manage your total amount of pokemon

I doubt trading will ever happen or it will be quite limited.

If they introduce it (and I'm not sure I like the idea) it will need to be very carefully controlled.
