I got banned
After 5.5 days I have hit the catch limit of Pokemon. I'm not very happy to say the least, because I just drove to my play area and lured all the stops to find out I get softbanned in about 15 minutes.
My goal was to go from level 37 to level 40 within 7 days. Today should have been the great day, if it wasn't for Niantic to prohibit me of doing so.
My question is if someone has any experience with this or knows how to get rid of this softban. I have read that Niantic uses a moving window, which means I can't play for the upcoming 1.5 day.
I've tracked my numbers:
Day 1: 20,861 Pokemon caught
Day 6: 24,361 Pokemon caught
Update: After six hours I tried to catch a Pokemon again and I was able to. I continued playing and right now I've caught exactly 24,862 Pokemon.
That is more than the 3500 (weekly cap) + 500 (supposed to be allowed per day after the weekly cap ban) + 1. I've wrote a message to Niantic in the meantime, but I doubt that has contributed to an unban. Very strange situation.

To get 10M in 7 days, let's do some rough estimate. I will be generous with the estimate, assuming lucky egg is always on.
Catching: 3500 x 170 x 2 x 2 = 2,38 0,000(assuming 170 base XP per catch)
Gym/Stop spin: 3500 x 125 x 2 = 875,000 (assuming gold gym spins without team control)
Hatching: 100 x 20 x 9 x 2 x 2 x 7 = 504,000(assuming 9 normal incubators always running and 20km walked per day)
Berry feeding: 500 x 7 x 20 x 2 x 2 = 280,000
Daily streaks(first catch + spin) = (6000 + 5000) x 2 x 2 = 44,000
Raid: 10 x 10000 x 7 x 2 x 2 = 2,800,000(assuming 10 legendary raids per day)
Gym fighting: ignored
The above adds up to 6,883,000, so the rest can be made up with 1559 evolutions. Of course the estimate is made based on rather generous assumptions(mostly assuming lucky egg always on), but still, it is not impossible for some urban hardcore player who is very determined and can afford those raid passes and lucky regs and can do a lot of raids.
You're right. I had to mention that I was already on 80% on my way to level 38. I had to collect 8.5 million in 7 days, because Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I had reserved for writing my Thesis as my deadline is Friday.
I've been preparing for this event for months. I've played with lucky egg most of the time this week and evolved 1739 Pokemon so far. I'm 700.000 XP from reaching level 40. Would have loved to reach that level today.
I had on average 7 to 8 hours sleep, just one or two hours below my usual average. To be very exact, I still had time to do my weekly workout, football, cooking and party schedule. But I must admit that every other minute of the week was spend on Pokemon. I've just reached my goal, a final evolve session should make me level 40!
Update: After six hours I tried to catch a Pokemon again and I was able to. I continued playing and right now I've caught exactly 24,862 Pokemon.
