Event Complaints

I've been thinking about the nature of this event, and I actually think it's pretty good. Thanksgiving in the US is a time when people hang with family, shop, watch football, and relax. Those of us who play will get some time in, but we won't be obsessive about it (except for those of us who will). And then on Saturday or Sunday, we'll get 48 hours of Farfetch'd availability, and the double XP, double dust, and extra spawns will last all next week, when we'll really get down to business. In a sense, next week is the real event, this is the prelude.

That's a structure that makes sense with this holiday.

So cut the bellyaching. It's pretty good, and different from what's come before. And we're getting 9 days of double stardust, which is kind of what everyone wanted. Most of us would have been delighted with 6 days of double dust, they stretched it out from that. And Farfetch'd is a nice bonus, provided we make it, and it appears often enough that serious players will catch a few.

Doesn’t the event conclude on Nov 26?

..but the official Niantic release states:
"The Global Catch Challenge starts now and concludes with a special celebration at the Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in Tottori, Japan, on November 26".

My main disappointment with this event is that all of my favorite places to play have really crappy nests right now (Sentret, Goldeen, Zubat, Snubull, Nidoran) so it's kind of a wasted event by unlucky timing. The event will end by the time nests rotate again but I still feel pressure to go out there and grind mon I don't really want just for the double star dust. It would be more fun if there were something out there worth catching.

I have a Snubbull nest and I'm raking it in. I like to put my Granbull in gyms after I've put my Clefable and Wigglytuff in others. But there's a Scyther nest at another park I like to spend time in. Might go there tomorrow.

I would kill for a sentrat or zubat nest right now. That’s mass evolve dream come true.

I have to agree with you, no complaints here. I'll have to get started now to make up for lost time due to work interference!

The event is great with really only one complaint....

One valid complaint would be the catch limit not getting increased. I will cap on my days off work, many have capped already and can't play anymore.

A follow up question to that, what happens during raids if you are soft-banned for the catch limit? I believe you can still do them and catch the boss accordingly.

Can you provide sources from players who have capped during this event? I am on 1500 catches so far without a cap.

It has happened to two local players and quite a few more during the last double dust event. It's 500 over 24 hours, 3500 per week.

The 3500 could be true. The last two days I caught around 750 Pokemon per day without any problems.

AFAIK the cap is 3500 per week, but even when you cap you can still catch 500 per day the following days.

I suspect raid bosses can still be caught as a local guy who was softbanned could still raid and catch, but he couldn't see a Xatu/Furret that was right on us. Niantic will still want their raid $.

I can verify this. Have a similar story from someone who used an IV scanner app and got softbanned.

I have not seen too many complaints to be honest...but maybe I have just missed them.

However, I must say that I am thankful and impressed that Niantic didn't label it as a 'Thanksgiving Event'. I can be critical at times, so it is only fair and balanced I mention it when I like or agree with something they do.
